Boise State University invites applications for a Clinical Assistant
Professor position. The primary responsibility of the clinical faculty
involves teaching students in both academic and clinical settings,
supervising clinical experiences, and engaging in professionally related
community service. While they may, they are not required to participate
in research or scholarship activities as part of their regular
assignment. The successful candidate will have a background in nurse
education, competence in a specific clinical practice area. Preferred
area of focus or experience for this position is in Medical-Surgical
Nursing. Candidates should also be technologically competent and able to
use technology to deliver effective education.
The ideal start date for this position is August 2024. This position is
location specific to the Boise State University campus and requires
teaching in the pre-license BS program. Clinical faculty generally teach
12 hours of didactic and clinical/lab/simulation courses, or 80% of the
allotted workload per semester, with the remaining time devoted toward
research and service.
Department Overview:
At Boise State University School of Nursing, we prepare nurse
practitioner students to provide caring, holistic and high-quality care
to diverse populations while also facilitating the development of
leadership and interprofessional skills. Our experienced faculty and
dedicated staff are focused on academic excellence, high-touch student
services, meaningful scholarly pursuits and engagement with our nursing
community. In addition to our Nurse Practitioner DNP Program, we offer a
prelicensure program and an online RN-BS. We house an accredited
Simulation Center that produces a robust program of research. The School
also has multiple long-standing partnerships with local healthcare and
community agencies that provide opportunities for innovative scholarship
and teaching opportunities.
Position Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate effective teaching.
- Pursue scholarly activities as appropriate for assigned clinical
track positions.
- Participate in curriculum development, implementation, and
evaluation of the educational program.
- Participate in development and implementation of standards for
admission, progression, and graduation.
- Participate in the professional mentoring of students.
- Participate in Program, School, College, and University committees
and activities.
- Provide relevant professional service and/or nursing representation
in the community and external to the university, such as in
professional associations, boards, journals, etc.
- Apply appropriate policies and regulations within the University,
College, and School.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others
within the University, the community, and clinical agencies.
- Participate in activities promoting personal and professional
educational growth.
- Uphold the Faculty Expectations Policy, which includes commitment to
the COHS & SON Shared Values.
- Apply appropriate teaching methods supported by evidence.
- Maintain all health requirements required by school and clinical
agencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master\'s Degree required for Clinical track in Nursing, or BSN who
is enrolled in a Masters program
- Appropriate clinical certification (where required).
Licensure as a Registered Nurse in Idaho or Nursing compact states;
by starting date of employment.
Competence in a specific clinical practice area(s).
Technologically competent; able to use technology to deliver
effective education.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
- Online or Hybrid teaching experience.
- Undergrad ate and/or Graduate level teaching experience.
- Experience creating experiential learning activities in the skills
lab.
- Undergraduate and/or Graduate level teaching experience.
- Nursing experiences within the areas of Medical-Surgical Nursing, or
Obstetrics, Neonatal Care, and Pediatrics.
