Responsibilities

  • Washes dishes to meet cleanliness standards; puts away clean, dry dishes in proper places; keeps unwashed dishes and dish area clean and organized
  • Cleans burners, stove, pans, drains, covers, and cook tables, underneath, behind, and in front of stove/oven; maintains clean floor: sweeping, spraying, mopping when necessary; takes out recycling and garbage regularly
  • Takes care of transferring, cooling, and storing (including labeling and dating) of selected menu items, understands and avoids food temperature danger zone, and knows what to do during Health Inspection
  • Completes assigned tasks on time and is self-motivated; knows and follows proper rotation, dating and food storage procedures and performs workstation sanitation properly
  • Adheres to all Idaho laws regarding food safety and sanitation
  • Observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; uses equipment and materials properly; attends all Deli department meetings, and maintains respectful communication with co-workers

Requirements

  • Commercial dishwashing, basic knife skills, and food safety certified by the State of Idaho preferred
  • Must have a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
  • Cooking skills a plus!
  • Effectively communicate with customers and other employees
  • Comprehend simple instructions, memos, training materials
  • Handle basic issues and problems and refer more complex issues to high-level staff
  • Gain understanding of and demonstrate our core values
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance, with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently

Environment: Work is performed primarily in a grocery store setting with some public contact and frequent interruptions.
