Location: Othello, Washington. Worker must possess 3 months of tree
fruit experience.
Worker must possess 3 months of tree fruit experience. Must be able to
operate ATV for long periods of
time Must be able to lift 60 lbs. Work may take place when temperatures
are below freezing and above
100 degrees Fahrenheit May require worker to sit and/or walk for
extensive periods of time. Workers will
be required to stoop and/or bend over while performing farm labor duties
There will be repetitive
movements while performing most of the farm labor duties. This job
requires tree fruit experience by
the worker. Crops: Apples, Sweet Cherries, Tart Cherries, Blueberries.
Worker will not be involved in hand
harvesting. Job Duties : Irrigator Responsibilities: Operate ATV, load
and unload from pickup Operate
vehicle to and from field Perform daily machine maintenance such as;
checking fluids, fueling, and
looking for loose or breaking parts Drive carefully, preventing
accidents and damage to equipment Be
aware of surroundings, there are many people, ladders, vehicles and
other machinery in and around the
orchard Digging is required for some pipe sprinkler and pipe repairs
Irrigation duties will include the
following: check alignment of sprinklers and adjust for proper water
distribution; turn on pump; turn
valves to start flow of water; move through freshly irrigated crops
where mud may be deep at times;
replace and repair irrigation sprinklers, pipes and related components
Clear debris from irrigation
system; disassemble, service, and store irrigation equipment after
irrigation season. Requirements Able
to operate ATV for long periods of time If driving a vehicle: have or
obtain valid WA drivers license If
driving a vehicle: pass vehicle driver background check Tractor Driver
Responsibilities Operate vehicle
to and from field Drive orchard tractor with mower, weeder, bin trailer,
or other attachments Perform
daily machine maintenance such as; greasing, checking fluids, fueling,
and looking for loose or breaking
parts Drive in tree rows, and back up for extended times Drive
carefully, preventing damage to
equipment and trees Be aware of surroundings, there are many people,
ladders, vehicles and other
machinery in and around the orchard Tractor Driving: Workers will use
power equipment, including, but
not limited to, tractors, planters, mowers, sprayers, fork lifts, skid
loaders. Must operate agricultural
equipment safely, with or without direction. May mix and/or spray
herbicides (according to appropriate
restrictive use laws, when/if applicable) May pull a sprayer in the
application of agricultural chemicals.
(Any sprayer activity would be under the supervision of a licensed spray
applicator.) Weeding Hand or
mechanical weeding May mix and/or spray herbicides (according to
appropriate restrictive use laws,
when/if applicable. Any sprayer activity would be under the supervision
of a licensed spray applicator)
Use backpack sprayer Gopher trapping Maintain orchard nursery stock by
cleaning up trees, removing
unwanted branches, training branches. GENERAL CONDITIONS: Field work
begins at assigned time
shortly after daylight. Work may be performed during light rain and in
high humidity and in freezing or
high heat temperatures. The worker may be required to work in the
orchard when trees are wet with
dew/rain and should have suitable clothing for variable weather
conditions. Worker may be required to
lift or load objects continually up to the weight limit identified in
section B.4. The Worker may never ride
on agricultural equipment not designed for work related riding purposes
or a ny other non-passenger
intended equipment unless instructed and authorized by the employer or
supervisor to do so. All work
related injuries must be immediately reported to the crew leader,
foreman, or supervisor. Workers
compensation claims may be presented to any medical provider, through
your employer or state agency
if applicable. Full Growing Season Commitment: The worker agrees to be
available for work and perform
the assigned work for the assigned employer through the full period of
employment in accordance with
sections A.3 and A.4 of the ETA 790. Light Duty: Workers restricted to
light duty work by their physician
may be offered light duty jobs in accordance with State Law and/or
