Boston Public Schools Coordinator, Boston School Committee (SY23-24) in Boston, Massachusetts

Reports to: Executive Secretary, Boston School Committee This position requires flexibility that includes frequently working evenings and some weekends General Description: Boston Public Schools (BPS) seeks a talented and versatile leader to contribute to advancing the work and priorities of the Boston School Committee. The Coordinator, Boston School Committee coordinates various priorities that ultimately support the operation and effectiveness of the Boston School Committee. In addition, this person provides related administrative office support for the Office of the School Committee. Responsibilities: Coordination of Boston School Committee Priorities Support School Committee Task Forces as needed; distribute materials, taking minutes, interpretation and translation requests, and all the communication between the members and the public. Supports the Superintendent Search Committee working closely with BPS leadership and Co-Chairs in managing the meetings, webinars, translations, and interpretations, and communication with the public. Coordinates and manages translations and interpretation requests for all School Committee and Task Force meeting materials into nine different languages Works closely with the Department of English Language Learners to ensure equitable public access to School Committee business Provides ongoing communications with School Committee and Task Force members Act as liaison between OITT and School Committee for technical questions Administrative Support for the Office of the School Committee Organize School Committee Meetings, Sub-Committee Meetings and Community Meetings. Manages School Committee Zoom meetings and provide technical support Answers parents and other constituents’ questions and comments about BPS Policies and Procedures Serve as Liaison to the public and community institutions. Serve as an Office Manager. Establish Correspondence system to maintain communication with members of the Committee. Manage Boston School Committee website Maintain databases to compile Boston School Committee historical data and policies approved by the School Committee Provides the Executive Secretary with reviews, information and analysis of service delivery. Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Executive Secretary and the School Committee Members. Qualifications - Required: BA/BS, related field Minimum 5 years of business or educational environment experience 70 –wpm typing and word processing ability; and computer literacy; with ability to develop spreadsheets, and use related office software Works flexible hours, including frequent evenings and weekends for School Committee and Task Force meetings Demonstrated organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects/activities and changing priorities successfully. May direct work of other clerical employees Ability to work as a team member, collaborate with BPS Staff, parents and other constituents; Excellent communication skills; responding to questions and comments concerning policies and procedures and other complex issues accurately. This position is subject to the City of Boston residency ordinance. Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment. Bilingual skills are strongly preferred (including Spanish, Haitian Creole, Cape Verdean, Somali, Chinese, or Vietnamese) Terms: Managerial, B22.
