We are seeking a motivated individual with strong work ethic that can interact well with others as part of a team to foster a culture of respect and collaboration. The lab manager will be responsible for organizing the laboratory, maintaining dung beetle colonies and nematode strains, purchasing supplies and equipment, tracking orders, and submitting lab safety and regulatory permits. Additionally, the lab manager will work closely with trainees and the PI to assist with ongoing research projects, develop lab protocols, troubleshoot, and train lab members on basic techniques. The selected candidate will also conduct independent experiments related to developmental biology, evolution, ecology or behavior.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Beetle breeding and maintenance of colonies

  • Order and track lab supplies

  • Manage lab safety and regulatory permits

  • Assist with ongoing research projects

  • Train new lab members on basic lab techniques

  • Carry out independent research projects

Required Skills

This position requires a BA or BS in biology or a related field and 1-3 years of laboratory research experience (MS is preferred). The candidate must have excellent organizational, record keeping and communication skills. Candidates with prior laboratory management experience, molecular biology research experience and/or bioinformatics experience are particularly encouraged to apply.
