Mid Level Substation Design Engineer
Job Summary
POWER Engineers is currently seeking a mid level Electrical Engineer with experience in substation design. This position is in the Power Delivery Substation Department in our Boston office located in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Flexibility is available for a hybrid work environment (employee will need to live within driving distance of the office).
Responsibilities
Perform and direct others in the detailed design of medium to extra high voltage utility substations.
One-line diagrams, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, substation physical layouts, selection of substation equipment, writing of substation equipment specifications, proposal development, construction cost estimates, and project scheduling.
Occasional travel will be required.
Required Education/Experience
Ability to function as a Mid Level Substation Design Engineer in the Boston area location of our Substation Business Unit.
BSEE (BS Electrical Engineering) or BSEET (BS Electrical Engineering Technology) degree.
Experience in substation design, preferably 15kV through 500kV, and IEEE/ANSI standards.
Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, and/or Engineer in Training (EIT) registration.
Experience filling the role of substation design engineer for several projects occurring concurrently.
The candidate must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
Desired Education/Experience
Five (5) or more years experience in utility substation design as outlined above.
Professional Engineering (PE) license.
Experience in managing small project teams.
