Overview:
Space Lab Technologies, LLC (Space Lab) provides new technology
development, research, and engineering support services for space science
and exploration systems. Space Lab is always looking for people who are

Space Lab is currently looking for a Software Engineer Level II to support
research and development of advanced technology for human space exploration
and space science. This position specifically involves development of the
Lunar Effects on Agricultural Flora Beta (LEAF ß) payload for
operations on the Lunar surface, which is crew deployed during the NASA
Artemis III mission (may be manifested on a later mission). This position
reports to the LEAF ß Principal Engineer. The expected start date
for this position is July 1, 2024.
Responsibilities:
The Software Engineer Level II (SWE II) assists both the flight and test
software development of the LEAF ß mission. This includes software
for the flight command and data handling system, flight instrument suite,
test systems, and other ground support. The SWE II provides software that
enables reliable and safe operation of the deployed payload. For test system
software, the SWE II supports development of simulations according to the
test cases provided by the systems engineers.
Overall Responsibilities:
-Software development of radiation tolerant or radiation hardened hardware
-Fault tolerant algorithms
-C/C++ programming
-VxWorks, QNX, RTEMS, or Linux real-time operating system use for
development to include scheduling, multiple threads, prioritizations,
custom boot sequences
-Common spaceflight communication protocols, such as from CCSDS
-Application Programmer s Interface (API) development
-Test system software via LabView and/or LabWindows
-Data extraction and processing software
-Risk assessments
-Software robust validation
-Technical presentations to the general public
Requirements:
This position requires knowledge of spacecraft software design to be applied
to both unmanned and human rated systems. MATLAB experience is desired.
Digital signal processing techniques is a plus. U.S.A. citizenship is
required. Travel for conferences, customer presentations, payload
integration/testing, and rocket launches is required approximately 6
per year. The position is a full-time exempt position of 40 hrs/week,
where the duties require minimal supervision. Overtime work above the 40
hrs/week is expected only to meet deadlines.
Education and Experience Requirements:
M.S. in Computer Science or Equivalent or a B.S. and at least 3 years of
related experience
