State of Massachusetts Clinical Social Worker (C) in Brockton, Massachusetts

Responsible for the clinical assessment of referrals for DMH services and maintenance and analysis of data under the supervision of the Director of the Service Authorization Unit in order to assist the Area Director of Community Services and Site Directors in managing vendor and state operated community resources. Maintains various databases and systems in a timely manner; including 688, AOR, MHIS, and DART. Compiles reports from databases and other sources as requested by Area Office, Central Office and other sources. Provides administrative support to the Clinical Service Authorization Unit by answering the phone, preparing correspondence and other administrative services as needed. Responds to community phone calls about DMH service authorization process and Community resources. Performs clinical evaluations of adults applying for DMH services by utilizing Face to Face interviews when needed, contacting past and present treaters and obtaining pertinent clinical documentation. Ability to travel and perform as needed face to face interviews on-site and off-site locations including jails, prison, homes and other community settings. Reviews adult applications and makes clinical decisions within the established timeframes. Coordinates applications with the Southeast Site offices and monitors completion of data entry and paperwork, including adherence to timelines, policies and guidelines. Conducts informal appeals and presents findings to the Area Medical Director. Interfaces with various private, local and state agencies to exchange information, resolve problems and to develop or improve services for clients. Consults with Area Medical Director through case presentation on all clinically and medically complicated and persons over the age of 65. Responds to inquiries from District Court Staff. Coordinates application process with Forensic Transition Team staff from across the state. Please Note: This position is a part-time, 24 hour position. _Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):_ * Performs clinical evaluations of adults applying for DMH services by utilizing Face to Face interviews when needed, contacting past and present treaters and obtaining pertinent clinical documentation. * Ability to travel and perform as needed face to face interviews on-site and off-site locations including jails, prison, homes and other community settings. * Reviews adult applications and makes clinical decisions within the established timeframes. * Completes clinical formulation in a written summary to support the decision. * Collaborates with the Southeast Area Site offices around application hand-off, communication of risk actors, completion of data entry and paperwork,adherence to timelines, policies and guidelines. * Conducts informal appeals and presents findings to the Area Medical Director. * Interfaces with various private, local and state agencies to exchange information, resolve problems and to develop or improve services for clients. * Consults with Area Medical Director through case presentation on all clinically and medically complicated and persons over the age of 65. * Responds to inquiries from District Court Staff. * Collaborates on application process with Forensic Transition Team staff from across the state. * Responds to community phone calls about DMH service authorization process andCommunity resources. * Accesses and maintains various databases and systems in a timely manner, including 688, MHIS and DART. * Completes other duties as assigned. //_Required Qualifications:_ * At least two years of clinical experience in a psychiatric setting and a degree in clinical social work. * Knowledge of the theory and principles of psychological and psychiatric disorders, psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery. * Ability to develop psychosocial formulations, knowledge of clinical and service best practices. * Ability to work in a fast-paced environment which may call for independent decision making in stressful. _DMH Mission Statement:__ _ The Department of Mental Health assures and provides access to services and supports to meet the mental health needs of individuals of all ages, enabling them to live, work and participate in their communities. MINIMUM ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS: REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE: At least two years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, professional experience as a clinical social worker after earning a master's degree in social work. SUBSTITUTIONS: - A Doctorate in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, counseling education, or human services may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of two years of education for one year of experience. - One year of education equals 30 semester hours. Education toward a degree will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed. REQUIRED EDUCATION: A Master's or higher degree in social work is required. LICENSES: - Licensure as a Licensed Certified Social Worker or Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Social Work is required. - Based on assignment, travel may be required.
