JPMorgan Chase Credit Trading Product Control Senior Associate in Brooklyn, New York

Join this fast-paced team as a Senior Associate with a focus on Credit Trading Product Control.

As a Credit Trading Product Control Senior Associate within our financial product control team, you will join our fast-paced team, focusing on Credit Trading Product Control. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting our fast-paced trading desk, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our Profit & Loss (P&L) statements, balance sheets, and month-end close procedures. This position offers a unique opportunity to drive and implement robust controls, spearhead new business initiatives, and collaborate across various front and back-office support functions.

Job responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of daily P&L reports and manage month-end close processes to ensure financial accuracy and compliance.

  • Provide comprehensive analysis and reporting on financials to desk heads, business managers, and senior finance management, offering insights and recommendations.

  • Partner with the business to develop and implement strong controls and support new business initiatives, enhancing operational efficiency and risk management.

  • Collaborate with various front and back-office support functions to resolve control and reporting issues promptly and accurately.

  • Serve as a key analytical and project support resource within the product control team, contributing to strategic projects and process improvements.

  • Manage and respond to various ad-hoc requests, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills.

  • Engage in daily interactions with the trading desk to provide real-time support and insights, ensuring alignment and effective communication between product control and trading operations.

  • Gain detailed and comprehensive knowledge of credit products, including bonds, credit derivatives, structured products, CLOs, and correlation products, along with a deep understanding of their valuation, enhancing your expertise and ability to support the trading desk effectively.

  • Work closely with the Accounting Policy team to ensure that the accounting of products and financials is compliant with US GAAP standards, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting.

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of risk management principles and the Greeks (Delta, Gamma, Theta, Vega, and Rho) to effectively monitor and report on the risk profile of credit products. Utilize this knowledge to ensure accurate valuation and risk assessment, providing critical insights into how market changes impact financial statements. This understanding will support the implementation of robust controls and enhance the accuracy of financial reporting, aligning with strategic objectives and compliance requirements

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:

  • 4+ of experience in Product Control, Financial Control, Accounting, or a related field within a financial institution, with a proven track record of managing P&L and month-end close processes

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related area

  • Strong proficiency in financial software and tools, including Excel, Power Point, Alteryx

  • Exceptional analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and a strong focus on control

  • Ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights

  • Solid understanding of risk management principles and product valuation techniques, including the ability to apply the Greeks in assessing risk profiles

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex financial concepts to diverse audiences and build strong working relationships across departments

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and solve problems in a fast-paced environment

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and across various functions, fostering a culture of cooperation and continuous improvement

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills:

  • A solid understanding of financial products is advantageous, enhancing your ability to support trading desks effectively

  • Advanced degrees or professional certifications such as CPA, CFA, or ACCA

  • Experience with data analysis tools and techniques
