Responsibilities The HIS Specialist carries out specific duties required to fulfill health information services functions. Completes data abstraction for regulatory agencies, executive reporting, and billing services. Responsibilities and Accountabilities: Abstracting and entering HBIPS data on recent inpatient discharges Abstracting data for Vericle Billing and other projects as designated Auditing patient charts for quality improvement and regulatory projects Provides general administrative support to health information including: Processing after-discharge requests for information Pulling and filing medical records Scanning inactive medical records for all PrairieCare's sites, and covering as needed in the other PrairieCare sites Provides general administrative support to the HIS Supervisor and department as needed Qualifications This position requires a minium of a 2 year degree Minimum of 2 years of health information services experience and/or a Registered Health Information Technician designation Demonstrates proficiency and ability to actively improve processes that relate to patient care support Proficient technical skills using a variety of HIS specific and non-specific hardware and software applications, including EHRs, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, Word, and Vericle Billing.
