Job Assignment: FLEET TECHNICIAN II Job Number: 24-0674 Department: 24 - Fleet Services Pay: $3,218 per month / $18.57 per hour Immediate Supervisor: Fleet Superintendent

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Technician II is responsible for the efficient repair and operation of all small engine miscellaneous equipment, automotive, light and medium duty trucks and equipment. Responsibilities extend to operating the equipment to insure operational status. Welds and fabricates as necessary in conjunction with stated repairs. Participates in trainings targeting the comprehensive repair of heavy-duty trucks and equipment. Light and medium duty equipment are defined as, but not limited to, patrol cars, pickups, crew trucks, tractors, backhoes, chippers, and small engines. Must be willing to adopt and exhibit the City of Brownwood I SERVE Core Values.

EXAMPLES OF SPECIFIC WORK PERFORMED: 1) Perform welding and fabrication with good skills; 2) Knowledge of hydraulic theory and performs related repair (light and medium); 3) Performs efficient diagnostics (light and medium, including diesel); 4) Does complete system repair (light and medium, including diesel); 5) Process paperwork and work orders in a timely and accurate manner; 6) Maintain work area, tools and equipment, including service truck, in a neat and clean manner; 7) Complete air-conditioning repair (light and medium); 8) Complete small engine repair; 9) Make service calls and may tow vehicles or equipment; 10) Participates in training; 11) Complete continued education courses and become certified in areas consistent with expertise; 12) Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Ability to transport self from site to site. Ability to drive various types of equipment and vehicles to and from various worksites. Employee will work in extreme temperatures, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, twisting, climbing, and lifting in order to maintain or repair the Citys fleet. Employee will work with chemicals, mechanical, electrical and traffic hazards. Employee will work in confined spaces, trenches and in streets where extreme hazards exist while performing duties. Employee is frequently required to perform heavy lifting and carrying of materials weighing up to 50 pounds and occasionally material weighing up to 100 pounds. Employee will be exposed to poor lighting, dirt, dust, noises, fumes, odors, water and mud. Employee must be able to walk on slippery, loose, uneven, and sloped surfaces. The machinery operated can be dangerous unless operated in a safe manner.

CONTACT WITH OTHERS: Frequent contact with other employees.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must have enough education to read and write effectively for this position; must be able to comprehend and speak the English language; a high school diploma or G.E.D. is a plus but not required. Prefer two years or more experience in maintenance and repair of a wide variety of motorized equipment, welding in automotive or construction field. Technical training preferred.
