Consultants please conduct a seated interview. Position runs from
4/16/2024 - 12/1/2024. Worker must be able to lift and carry items
weighing up to 100 pounds. Most duties are performed out-of-doors and
entail exposure to extreme heat and cold; dust, rain, snow, and wind;
and herding hazards; poisonous snakes and predators common in range
lands. General supervision will be provided by the ranch owner. A
minimum of 6 months\' experience is required. Worker must be On-Call
24/7. Driving is required on ranch only. No Driver\'s License Required
Attends sheep flock grazing on range or pasture. Herds flock and rounds
up strays using trained dogs. Beds down flock near evening campsite.
Guards flock from predatory animals and from eating poisonous plants.
Drenches sheep. May examine animals for signs of illness and administer
vaccines, medications and insecticides according to instruction. May
assist with lambing, docking and shearing. May perform other farm or
ranch chores related to the production and husbandry of sheep on an
incidental basis. May sort and cut culls. May feed animals supplementary
rations. Must be able to ride and handle horses in a manner to assure
the safety of the worker, co-workers and livestock. Employee must be
willing to perform tasks capably and efficiently without close
supervision, and live and work singly or in small groups of workers in
isolated areas for extended periods of time. Sheepherders will be
allowed to operate equipment to feed lambs and ewes with silage wagons.
Herders will ride horse and drive 4-wheelers. On call 24/7. Will live on
the range more than 50% of the time. Must be willing to be On-Call 24/7.
May attend to sheep and lambs in barns during lambing season. May brand,
tag, clip or otherwise mark sheep for identification purposes.
