City of Bunnell Utilities Maintenance Technician I in Bunnell, Florida

This position works within the Infrastructure Department and is under the direct supervision of the Utilities Crew Chief. This is entry level, manual labor in the construction, operation, and maintenance activities of water distribution and/or wastewater collection designed to provide the knowledge, skill, and experience required for licensure in wastewater collections or water distribution and progression to Underground Utilities Technician II.

Duties: Performs the heavy and unskilled manual labor on water and/or wastewater systems needed to support the work of higher-level technicians engaged in installation, maintenance, and repair of the water and/or wastewater systems and related components. Works under direct supervision. Uses hand tools, pneumatic tools, and other manual water and/or wastewater equipment, as directed. Responds to emergency maintenance calls. Cleans, maintains, and stores tools on trucks and trailers. Maintains a log of all work done. Attends approved classes and training designed to provide the knowledge, skills and abilities to take on skilled level work and secure licensure or certification in water or wastewater. Responds to emergency maintenance calls. Any other duties assigned

Skills/Qualifications: Ability to analyze complex information; uses intuition and experience to complement data. Knowledge of tools and equipment used in maintenance, repair, or construction work. Ability to solve problems by identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner; gather and analyze information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem-solving situations. Pursues training and development opportunities; strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; shares expertise with others. Ability to work effectively with co-workers and the public. Accepts feedback from others. Ability to bend, stoop, climb, lift 60lbs, and work in adverse weather situations. Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or GED Professional

Licenses: Valid Florida Driver's License Must possess and maintain valid FWPCOA Collections Certificate and/or FDEP Distribution License.
