BURLINGTON COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICTPOSITION DESCRIPTION AND SPECIFICATIONS Position Title: Club M Match Coordinator (District Wide)Job Category: Professional ServicesReports to: Outreach and Grant CoordinatorDays: 176 days - Part-time (approx 5 hrs./day)

QUALIFICATIONS: Requires the following (or equivalent qualifications):

  • Graduation from High School, preferred college degree

  • A minimum of two years working with youth

  • A minimum of one year working with volunteers; including recruitment, management, and recognition.

  • Experience in Microsoft Office including: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Publisher. Access database experience helpful but not required.

  • Ability to work well with varying personalities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and diverse backgrounds.

  • Ability to work with the Burlington Community School District

  • Flexibility in schedule to work some weeknights and weekends.

  • Familiar with theElements of Effective Practice for Mentoringand/or the mentoring profession.

    POSITION PURPOSE: This position involves assisting the Club M Coordinator in recruiting, training and screening volunteers and matching them one-to-one with youth. Responsibilities also include interviewing and screening the youth, providing follow-up support once each match is made, planning training workshops and supporting the weekly Wednesday Club M peer program at Burlington High School This position is a 9-month, part- time position and grant funded. PERFORMANCE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Recruit and screen high school volunteers who are considering being a Club M mentor;

  • Interview potential volunteer mentors utilizing the Club M interview questionnaire, mentor application, and using SAFE screening procedures;

  • Train potential mentors utilizing the Club M Child Training Booklet and the No Go Tell Child Safety Handbook;

  • Make monthly contact with matched volunteers;

  • Keep current the mentoring database, match files and paperwork, and match correspondence;

  • Assist in other programmatic functions as required, such as special events, to support the program;

  • Market Club M to community and school district through ongoing communication about our services to agencies who refer youth to our program;

  • Work with other program staff (both paid and volunteer) to coordinate best effort on behalf of each youth referred;

  • Communicate with volunteers and mentees regarding activities, workshops, etc.;

  • Create and distribute monthly activity newsletter; and

  • Coordinator Club M mentoring site activities.

    MEASUREMENTS OF EFFECTIVENESS AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH:

  • The Club M Match Coordinator will be evaluated annually using the BCSD evaluation procedure.

  • Meets or exceeds all performance targets as indicated by the grant funding award.

  • Maintenance of required documentation.

    PHYSICAL, MENTAL, AND VISUAL EFFORT: Continuous sitting, speaking, hearing and visual effort. Frequent reaching, stooping, kneeling, fine manipulation and repetitive hand motions. Occasional lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Close mental and visual attention. Work involves some irregularities and difficulties, repetitive and varied tasks. Continuous general concentration. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is primarily performed in a normal classroom/office setting. Occasionally exposed to dust, noise, odors, and other irritants. Stress associated with work pace and pressure.
