Phillips 66 Director, Renewables Origination - Calgary in Calgary, Alberta

The Director, Origination – Renewables is responsible for supporting the implementation of new business activities, identifying, structuring, and closing long-term renewable fuels & feedstocks contracts, and supporting business development activities throughout Canada. This position requires a detailed understanding of the complete renewables business value chain including agriculture, feedstock production, feedstock markets and logistics, production, transportation, storage, the impact of regulatory and sustainability frameworks, and end-user markets. This role will interact externally with counterparties and potential suppliers throughout the value chain on both renewable fuels (SAF & RD) and renewable feedstocks. This role will create value and contribute to the profitability of the Global Renewables group and P66.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Develop new customer contracts and relationships portfolio

  • Work internally and externally to expand renewables infrastructure

  • Executing purchase, sale, and transportation/freight-forwarding contracts regarding bio-based renewable feedstocks including but not limited to used cooking oil, soybean oil, and tallow and renewable fuels including biodiesel, renewable diesel (HVO), and SAF

  • Identify new opportunities to grow the renewables business and capitalize on arbitrage opportunities

  • Develop a market plan that defines a profitable business model for new types/sources of renewable feedstocks in line with Global Renewable Group’s overall trading strategy

  • Perform economic and strategic evaluations for new business opportunities

  • Work with third-party consultants and brokers to understand and evaluate their views on renewables markets and factor those into business development strategies

  • Ensure sustainability compliance of counterparties and new deals

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5 or more years of specific commercial activities (scheduling, contract writing, negotiations, trading, business development, or project management)

  • 2 or more years of experience in renewable fuels and/or feedstocks

  • Experience in risk and/or supply chain activities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Up to 50% travel on an as-needed basis

  • 5 or more years of experience in renewable fuels and/or feedstocks

  • Being fluent in a second language is a plus

  • Negotiation experience

  • Deal creation experience

  • Project execution experience

  • Highly motivated, results-oriented, independent worker with demonstrated integrity toward a team-first mentality

  • Experience in resource allocation, financial analysis, and forward planning

  • Effective oral and written communication

  • Strong desire to improve results and drive significant contribution
