Job Overview

Corporate Technology provides advanced technology R&D services across all TE business units. The Integrated Electronics and Software team contains extensive electronics and software expertise and is focused on developing smarter, more intelligent variants of our products.

We are seeking an experienced embedded software engineer for an exciting, highly visible role within a corporate R&D team who work on a diverse range of software and electronics projects across the full spectrum of the TE product portfolio.

Educational Background and Knowledge

  • Proficient in multiple relevant languages (E.g. C/C++/Python/Javascript)

  • Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics/ Communication Engineering or related

  • Good understanding of embedded Linux (e.g. Buildroot or Yocto).

  • Experience of bare metal development for microcontroller families such as STM32 or Nordic nRF.

  • Experience of embedded RTOS (e.g. FreeRTOS or Zephyr) would be beneficial.

  • An interest in machine learning concepts and algorithms would be an advantage `

Role and responsibilities

  • Designs, develops and tests software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products including cloud-based or internet-related tools.

  • Ensures the security of all products is maintained throughout the product lifecycle. Integrates new security features, updates into existing products, and resolves integration and testing issues.

  • Software development across a wide variety of projects and platforms through the entire software lifecycle.

  • Mentoring and supporting other members of the team.

  • Perform technical analysis of candidate software, firmware, and hardware systems.

  • Lead the interface between business teams and technical teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

  • Work with other member of the team to develop project concepts.

  • Developing test plans, test frameworks and unit tests.

What your background should look like:

  • 10+ years relevant experience in embedded software development.

  • Demonstrable track record in leading the software element of complex projects.

  • Proven ability to execute on engineering deliverables.

  • Fluent communication skills facilitating collaboration with own team, customers, internal business leaders and technology leaders.

  • Individual must be self-motivated and require minimum supervision, have strong planning skills and be able to deal with and balance multiple competing priorities.
