    Job Description

RELIABILITY ENGINEER, Facilities-Repair and Maintenance, to be responsible for increasing the reliability of MIT facilities infrastructure and improving the efficiency of job plans through improvements to maintenance. Will work across a number of divisions, including Facilities Engineering and Energy, Capital Renewal, IS&T, Business Systems, Operations, and Repair and Maintenance. Responsibilities include leading reliability improvement programs for critical assets by proposing design changes, maintenance plan changes, or any other initiative that may increase reliability levels and improved preventative maintenance efficiency; monitoring asset records and life expectancy to provide data inputs and recommendations for capital replacement projects of assets that reach end-of-life; and equipment preventive maintenance (PM) task creation and management for continuous improvement and PM optimization based on PM effectiveness analysis.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline; five years of experience working within maintenance and asset management areas; experience working within maintenance and asset management areas; basic- to medium-level knowledge of rotating machinery, air handling units, cooling towers, etc.; strong analytical skills and the ability to work with data collection and analysis; experience implementing and leading PDM technologies and using a maintenance planning system; experience using Excel spreadsheets, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP; meticulous attention to detail; and communication and interpersonal skills. Must be comfortable working in/on chases, rooftops, penthouse mechanical rooms, and electrical spaces. PREFERRED: reliability certification, e.g., CRL, CMRP, etc.; and SAP experience.
