Shire Sr Maintenance Mechanic in Cambridge, Massachusetts
This position reports to Shift 2. The shift schedule for this role is Wednesday to Saturday second shift 1430-0100. Due to business need, you may be required to work overtime and/or support operations on an alternate shift.
Duties include: Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance of Process and Utility System equipment used to manufacture biological therapeutics. Perform assignments in a manner that complies with all Takeda policies and procedures that ensure safety and regulatory compliance. Works as a member of a team responsible for the efficient and reliable operation of Process and Utility systems and equipment. Contributes to continuous improvement and reliability efforts designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our daily support efforts. Provide support to the operations team responsible for standing shift to ensure efficient and reliable operations of all building systems.
Responsibilities 60% Perform scheduled planned and corrective maintenance on Process and Utility System and equipment in a manner that is safe and compliance with industry regulatory expectations. Examples of equipment systems in scope are Purified Water and Water For Injection generation, storage and distribution equipment; Autoclaves and Glasswashers: Clean In Place Systems; Robot Bottle Processing Systems; Product Storage and processing systems (e.g., Ultrafiltration Skids). 20% Respond to unplanned equipment outage events with the ability to diagnose and repair equipment and systems in a time efficient, right-the-first time manner. This work must be performed with the appropriate adherence to safety and regulatory compliance business practices. 10% Provide supervision for skilled contractors working to supplement our team efforts, insuring work is performed in compliance with all Takeda regulatory and business practice expectations. 10%Provide support to the Operations team to insure cohesive and effective plant operations and maintained and sustained.
Education and Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated abilities and/or training and experience. Must be highly motivated and able to work independently with moderate supervision. Capable of documenting work contributions clearly and concisely according to Takeda procedures and practices.
Key Skills, Abilities, and Competencies Provides responsive customer support with emphasis on customer satisfaction. Follow and understand standard operating procedures as outlined. Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Ability to read and understand process and instrumentation diagrams. Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. Must have to ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
Complexity and Problem Solving Candidate must have to the ability to determine when management / support should be contacted. Must demonstrate a sense of ownership and be able to multi task assignments with a right the first time mentality.
Internal and External Contacts Assists in the coordination of maintenance and operational activities with manufacturing leads and supervisors. Communicates operational issues to the system specialists and Maintenance Management. Interacts with customers on a daily basis to provide and / or receive information pertaining to the operational readiness of equipment. Interact with other support groups such as Engineering, Validation, Quality Assurance and Metrology. Coordinate and supervise the work of contract support providers to insure work is completed in compliance with Takeda policies and practices.
Other Job Requirements Work week will be established to maximize contribution support based on manufacturing business needs. Must be able to work flexible shifts as requested to insure team support of business operations. Must be able to cross train on process mechanic and shift operations competencies. Should be able to climb a ladder, reach, bend, and lift loads up to 50 lbs. Valid Driver’s license. Travel between all Takeda sites is required. Incumbent will be required to carry a mobile phone and to be on call to support Manufacturing operations.
