Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Quality Assurance Engineer to join the WattStopper Team in Carlsbad, CA.

What Will You Do?

Role:As a Quality Assurance Engineer II, you will be responsible and accountable for implementing quality engineering principles into product design and development in all phases of the New Product Development (NPD) cycle. Support sustaining team with product changes and cost-down initiatives. Drive corrective action/preventive action process through root-cause analysis tools. Act as the Voice of the Customer and drive continuous improvement (KPI).

What will you do?

· Provide quality assurance requirements during engineering product spec (EPS) creation.

· Create validation and verification test plans related to mechanical, electrical, environmental, and compliance.

· Coordinate and execute testing between internal labs and external labs.

· Facilitate and drive design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA).

· Work with internal subject matter experts on defining product regulatory requirements related to UL, cUL, FCC/IC, and CE.

· Review and approve first article inspection (FAI) reports.

· Perform peer-to-peer quality reviews.

· Facilitate corrective action plan (CAP) process.

· Execute and drive root-cause/corrective-action meetings.

· Execute critical-to-quality (CTQ) testing to validate firmware.

· Design and implement process improvements, including testing, and inspection.

· Create quality reports, update standard operating procedures, and work instructions.

· Review and disposition engineering change requests, modifications, and change orders.

· Participate in meetings with local and international engineering teams.

Qualifications

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field of study.

· Minimum of 3+ Years’ related experience.

· Experience in new product development.

· Experience in regulatory compliance – (e.g., UL, FCC, CE, etc.).

· Experience working in problem solving/corrective-action/preventive-action.

· Product risk management – DFMEA/PFMEA.

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· Capable of multi-tasking and handling multiple priorities.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.

Preferred Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

· Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, quality manufacturing engineering, electro-mechanical engineering, or other equivalent education.

· Experience in new product development phases – EVT, DVT, PVT.

· Experience with PCBA manufacturing.

· Experience with product testing related to safety, EMC/EMI, and environmental.

· Experience with implementing and maintaining a quality management system.

· Familiar with change management process and applications (e.g., ECR, ECO, etc.).

· Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

· Proficient in creating trend charts, pareto charts, and graphs.

Organization:

· Individual Contributor competency model

Main Interface:

· Internal – engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, customer support and product teams.

· External – Outside regulatory agencies, component suppliers, contract manufacturers, independent test laboratories, and customers.

Travel:

· Ability to travel domestic and international on a limited basis.
