OTTOs opportunity:

Our Standards Compliance Engineer provides technical expertise on compliance engineering projects involving various national and international product safety, product certification, and environmental regulations. Projects will be gained on a proactive approach through research and market driven requirements through the latest specifications.

Prevents compliance issues by working with various depts; reviewing design data; identifying and resolving product and engineering design issues; identifying short-term and long-range issues; researching and identifying applicable regulatory and industry compliance standards and codes; developing compliance policies.

Specifically, the Standards Compliance Engineer will:

  • Review and evaluate new product designs including changes to existing designs with respect to safety and regulatory certifications
  • Stay abreast of all upcoming changes to compliance regulations and standards to ensure OTTO is meeting all current requirements for new and legacy products. Assess product regulations and standards impact of new market entries (e.g., as associated with expansion into new countries, applications, etc.)
  • Provide technical testing/certification support to OTTOs current customer and supplier base through customer forms, databases, IMDS, SCIP, and etc.
  • Work with Engineering and Sales to provide input and direction concerning regulatory requirements to insure timely feedback and cost approvals
  • Be a mentor to engineers, technicians and design teams on techniques to achieve regulatory certifications testing and compliance
  • Interface with outside agencies so that the products can be formally tested and certified to meet designated requirements
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with UL, CSA, FM, and other agencies as required
  • Responsible for creating, supporting, and maintaining all technical files required by various safety and certification agencies, including monitoring and updating of applicable standards
  • Be a lead internal auditor and assist with external audits
  • Create or update processes and procedures to meet evolving regulations
  • Educate coworkers, suppliers, and customers on various regulations and how to comply with their changes
  • Provide support and advise staff
  • Assist with other related duties as required or assigned
