C.H. Robinson Inventory Control and Quality Assurance Manager in Carson, California

C.H. Robinson is seeking a Manager Inventory Control and Quality Assurance (ICQA) to revolutionize warehouse operations. This is not your typical role – it’s a chance to lead innovation. Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret data, make sound conclusions, create, present, and execute actions to improve overall quality

  • Lead and/or participate in frequent Gemba and Kaizen events, driving actions for improvement

  • Provide comprehensive oversight for each customer's entire inventory profile, conducting audits and reporting on inventory levels (location, amounts, accuracy, cycle counts, reconciliations, etc.) to meet analysis requirements as determined by the customer

  • Collaborate with Operations, Learning, and Service Assurance leaders for timely and constructive evaluations

  • Model safe, clean, and orderly behavior across the facility, adhering to OSHA and AIB standards

  • Hire, train, and oversee ICQA staff, supporting their development and success

  • Generate and maintain departmental reports, contributing to transparent communication

  • Develop, manage, and update KPI metrics on a weekly/monthly basis

  • Present daily and weekly reports to senior management, highlighting ICQA team performance

  • Review and analyze customer defect data, developing action plans to reduce defects and improve overall quality

  • Implement error-proofing measures, such as Poke Yoke, to support continuous quality improvement while also contributing to achieving P&L targets through effective optimization of labor resources

  • Operate a forklift as needed, utilizing on-site training and certification, while also undertaking general maintenance and cleanup of the warehouse as necessary

  • Take on additional related duties as assigned, contributing to the overall success of our team

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years of inventory or quality control experience in a warehouse environment

  • 2 years of supervisory experience leading or managing teams

  • Experience managing inventory with lot control and/or shelf-life requirements.

  • Experience with inventory policies and procedures (Including USDA, FDA, and International Policies).

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer

  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior WMS experience preferred

  • College degree preferred

  • Experience in inventory and/or quality control within larger facilities (ranging from 300K sq. ft. to 1M sq. ft.+)

  • Proficient in material handling equipment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Relates well with employees and superiors. Good work attitude

  • Strong leadership, delegation, and effective team-building skills. Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail.

  • Results-oriented mindset with a demonstrated competency to lead and influence others to accomplish goals

  • Open-minded and decisive with strong analytical, mathematical or data analysis bias with root cause analysis & barrier removal skills

  • Ability to follow and ensure compliance to work instructions

  • Ability to motivate and encourage change, able to get positive results in a very large, dispersed organization
