Hardware Electrical Engineer II (JG9)
Position Summary
The primary purpose of this job is to support electrical-related continuous and development engineering activities in NCR products. The job entails working mostly on board assemblies, and at times cabling, component evaluation, product lifecycle management and engineering documentation. At this level, a light load of project management is to be expected.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Drives the Board Electrical Architecture
Developing complex electrical design using specialized chips
Providing solutions to design requirements such as power supplies, communication interfaces, digital signal processing, etc.
Board size estimate and Initial component placement
Integrating DFX in designing solutions
Performing board-level cost reduction activities
Reviewing output of associates and mentoring/coaching them
Performing or driving completion of required product qualification tests
Analyzing test results and making recommendations based on data gathered
Assisting in reviewing schematic and board layout
Assisting in the completion of engineering documents such as Functional Specifications, Design Qualification Test Plan, etc.
Responsible for resolving product-specific issues
Functional Knowledge and Skills
In-depth knowledge in electronics and circuits
Experienced with designing solutions based on specialized Integrated Chips
Profound knowledge in product development process
Solid proficiency in electrical design aid tools like Cadence
Solid proficiency in simulation tools used to verify circuit performance
Detailed knowledge on specialty testing tools like ESD machine, spectrum analyzer, etc.
Detailed knowledge on product-specific test procedures like power supply evaluation, environmental stress test, etc.
Knowledge of quantitative data analysis
Has background in troubleshooting high-complexity board issues such as signal integrity issues, ESD issues, etc.
Has DFX skills
Knowledge on medium to high-complexity engineering documentation
Proficient in documentation tools like MS Office
Innovative is a plus
Education and Experience
