Description
Robert Half is currently working with a Cedar Rapids client seeking a Cost Accounting Lead. The Cost Accounting Lead is a critical role responsible for the ongoing analysis of product cost, development of new product cost and margin analysis. This role will also establish customer pricing by working closely with the sales teams and senior financial management team. This position is for a talented Cost Accountant looking for a company experiencing substantial growth.
Your responsibilities:
Carry out variance analysis such as Purchase Price to Cost variance, cost revaluation, Invoice to PO price variances and work order variances
Develop and maintain the cost accounting system, documents, and records of the organization
Generate and complete internal cost audits
Take physical inventory and review the cycle count program
Analyze costs and recommend cost savings
Interpret data collected and record detailed results
Follow Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
Prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs and analyze manufacturing costs
Record and examine changes in goods and services, and determine the effects on cost
Estimate new and proposed product costs
Collect data and plan projects to decide costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor usage, waste
Generate reports for management that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products or services
Assist in general ledger preparation and audits
Implement standardized costing methodology for all domestic plants
Requirements
Bachelors degree in accounting
-3+ years experience performing accounting functions in manufacturing
High analytical and extremely detailed
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Proficient at analyzing financial data and promptly creating accurate reports
Strong knowledge of cost management methodologies, activities, and cost pools based on direct and indirect cost rates
Experience working with organizational accounting concepts
