Job Summary:

Build, patch, and upgrade AIX severs using Network Install Manager. Monitor and maintain current OS and security patch levels on servers. Respond to new security threats and patch as needed. Implement security controls in accordance with corporate standards. Maintain audit compliance and understand SOX requirements. Manage and support service provider technical staff.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • .Performance analysis and tuning.

  • Configure Workload Manager.

  • Shell scripting and automation.

  • Object Data Manager concepts.

  • Capacity planning for future upgrades.

  • Monitor server health and proactively respond as needed.

  • Use the HMC to manage LPARs in a virtualized environment.

  • Implement PowerVM features.

  • Manage Virtual I/O (VIO) servers.

  • Micro-partitioning.

  • Processor pools.

  • Active Memory Expansion.

  • Live Partition Mobility.

  • N-port ID virtualization for SAN storage.

  • Shared Storage Pools.

  • Shared Ethernet Adapters

  • Understand network concepts such as VLAN tagging, routing, and Etherchannel.

Job Level Specifications:

  • Familiarity with open source management on AIX. rpm, yum, dnf, IBM AIX Toolbox.

  • Work with IBM for technical support issues.

  • Support on-site hardware maintenance and repairs.

  • Upgrade firmware on PSeries servers.

  • Plan and prepare for new servers.

  • Install and cable new servers.

  • Design and implement Disaster Recovery solutions.

  • Support Disaster Recovery tests.

  • Work with team members around the globe for continuous coverage.

  • Participate in larger team projects for implementing new applications and technologies.

  • Respond to service requests from other teams.

  • Schedule maintenance with a Change Management system.

  • Communicate and coordinate with other teams for changes.

  • Support changes by other teams as needed​

Work Experience:

  • Typically 8+ years with bachelor's or equivalent.

Education and Certification(s):

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience from which comparable knowledge and job skills can be obtained.
