Robert Half Staff Accountant in Charleston, South Carolina

Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Staff Accountant in the Wholesale Distribution industry. Based in Charleston, South Carolina, this role involves maintaining and managing accounts payable, account reconciliation, and bank reconciliations. You will be working in an office environment and will be a significant part of our team.

Responsibilities:

• Handle all aspects of accounts payable (AP) including invoice processing, payment processing, and vendor communication

• Conduct regular account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance

• Perform bank reconciliations regularly to confirm all transactions are recorded correctly

• Assist in catching up on any backlog of work and maintaining up-to-date accounts

• Collaborate with the new CFO and other team members to ensure smooth financial operations

• Contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes within the organization

• Manage customer credit applications, maintain accurate records, and resolve credit inquiries

• Monitor customer credit accounts and take appropriate action on delinquent payments

• Support other accounting-related tasks as needed. Requirements

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) operations with a strong understanding of the full cycle AP process.

• Demonstrated expertise in Account Reconciliation, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently.

• Proven experience in conducting Bank Reconciliations, with a focus on accuracy and timeliness.

• A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, high volume environment.

• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

• Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.

• A strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

• Ethical behavior and integrity in financial management.
