The Claims Business Analyst is a member of the Technology Strategy Organization who provides functional and process expertise on behalf of the business to define required features across claims process, claims intake and claims systems. A business analyst works closely with the IT team and other stakeholders to review requirements and use cases, define processes, oversee user acceptance testing, production support activities and end to end testing.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Gather, analyze and document business needs and requirements for the claims process and systems. Translate business requirements into functional specifications and user stories.

  • Undertake complex analysis to develop the detailed user stories or requirements of the solution to satisfy the business need.

  • Work very closely with the testing team, using the user stories or requirements document as a critical guide, to ensure that issues are identified and fully resolved prior to roll out.

  • Assist with the business requirements and process design in the implementation of a SaaS platform for claims management.

  • Assist with the definition of interfaces between the platform and Equitable systems.

  • Assist in the plan to convert off and sunset the existing claims platforms.

The base salary range for this position is $68,000 - $102,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in claims processing, group employee benefits, insurance operations, underwriting, or business analysis.

  • Strong skills with Microsoft product suite.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical personnel, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.

  • Experience in requirements gathering, testing, and acceptance criteria writing.

  • Possess a high level of productivity, reliability, proactiveness, attendance, and attention to detail.

  • Able to meet with brokers and understand the business requirement impacts and articulate them to the Delivery & IT team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Agile methodology experience a plus.

Agile Project Management: Knowledge of effective agile project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

Business Data Analysis: Knowledge of business data analysis; ability to collect, identify, analyze and interpret business data using various kinds of techniques to meet business needs and requirements.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Knowledge of collaborative techniques and approaches; ability to promote a culture of continuous improvement and working together across functions to solve business problems and meet business goals.

User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.
