JABA Assistant Director in Charlottesville, Virginia

This position includes large scale and highly complex administrative management of multiple service areas as assigned by the COO. Oversees the delivery of congregate meals, socialization, health services, evidence-based and adult day care services. Ensures compliance with all program standards and regulations. Exercises

independent decision-making. Responsible for the implementation, interpretation and coordination of operations, regulations and policies pertaining to these services.

Essential Functions

Staff Management: Hire, train and supervise daily activities of assigned staff. Provide coaching and mentoring to supervisors and other staff as needed. Conduct regular individual and team meetings. Conduct mid-year and annual reviews. Provide disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Monitor the orientation, training and ongoing development of staff for continuous skills improvement. Assist staff with developing skillsets. Foster strong, positive, collaborative teamwork. Encourage community partnership and development.

Program Management: Direct the planning, function, and evaluation of all programs within area of oversight. Development of new projects/programs. Coordinate service provision with other departments within JABA. Review, write, analyze and implement relevant policies for departments. Coordinate community and program outreach. Develop relationships with community partners. Respond with independent judgement to overall operational aspects on a day-to-day basis.

Fiscal Management: Assist in the development of annual budgets with COO. Monitor expenses against budgets. Approve expenses. Long range fiscal planning for future needs. Coach direct reports in all aspects of program budget management. Accountable for program performance against budget. Compile reports. Participate in jurisdictional applications and other fundraising activities.

Data Management & Reporting: Ensure identification of appropriate outcomes and data points. Review outcome measures annually. Management of program monitoring activities performed by other staff. Review and/or establish survey and other program evaluation methods. Utilize feedback and performance information to improve services.

Community Engagement: Collaborate with other departments, community boards and groups to achieve specific short or long-term goals. Present relevant information on Advocacy department activities at the request of CEO or Board. Network with individuals representing partners or potential partners. Represent JABA at community events. Serve as a liaison to local government.

Maintaining Confidentiality: Commit to the protection of confidential information related to the agency, its operation, proprietary documents, financials, and the individuals served. Comply with data integrity and security policies.

Professional Development: Complete 10 hours of professional development/training annually. Ensure reporting staff are offered and complete professional development/training that encourages their professional and personal development.

Work Environment

Employee works primarily in an office environment. This position also requires the employee travel by automobile and be exposed to changing weather conditions. The employee works in varied business environments based on program needs.

Telecommuting is permitted on the decision of supervising Director after probation has been completed. Employees are required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy and the ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable).

• This role is largely sedentary with periods of moderate activity.

• The employee is regularly required to participate in online and in person meetings and communicate effectively with team members, peers, and community partners.

• Employee uses a computer extensively for data entry and other functions of the position.

• Employee expected to maintain physical files and filing system.

• The position primarily works from an office or telecommuting environment and may be asked to travel to other locations within Virginia and the United States.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position is a full time working 37.5 hours Monday – Friday.

Travel

Travel is primarily local travel during the business day. Travel within the United States may occur.

Required Education and Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree or Registered Nurse plus 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience is required.

  2. Experience with aging and disability populations preferred.

Computer Skills

Demonstrated proficient to intermediate user of Microsoft Office Suite and other applications such as Zoom. Experience with online data management.
