Federal Reserve System Cash Unit Coordinator in Chicago, Illinois

Provides administrative and operational support within one or more area of the Cash department in accordance with established systems and procedures. Ensures staff compliance and adherence to strict controls within a controlled environment and/or valuables handling area. Maintains working knowledge and ensures proper application of all Cash governing procedures including Custody Control Standards, Treasury Currency Operational Manual, District Procedure Manual, and other Cash governing documents. Provides training, assistance and direction to unit personnel, is capable of proficiently performing any task in unit and assists supervision with various tasks. The level of work required is considered advanced and staff must be able to work under minimal supervision. May provide training and/or work direction to other staff. This job does not have any direct reports. You will report to the Cash Manager

You will:

  • Assists management in coordinating the daily activities of personnel and resources in order to attain objectives and maintain operating standards, policies and practices that provide a smooth uninterrupted workflow and meet business unit goals, objectives, and deadlines.

  • Ensures employee understanding and enforces strict compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, standards, controls, and regulations.

  • Monitors staff and equipment performance to ensure unit standards and deadlines are met.

  • Assists in developing and implementing new and/or improved operational enhancements and procedures that contribute to the effectiveness of the unit.

  • Prepares and tracks unit statistics related to daily production standards and provides feedback to management.

  • Contacts financial institutions, armored carriers, staff and other government agencies as necessary. Ensures that unit records are accurate, complete and properly filed.

  • Provides training to staff and additional assistance and direction to less experienced staff.

Unit Specific Duties:

High Speed Unit:

  • Maintain machine reports, ensure accuracy of team folders, monitor machine performance, and work closely with Field Engineers (FE's) to resolve machine malfunctions and service call messages as required.

Paying and Receiving Unit:

  • Ensure resolution of carrier discrepancies,

  • Monitor and act on deposit quality issues to facilitate maximum production.

  • Respond via telephone to customer/carrier inquiries.

Your background:

  • High School or equivalent experience as noted below

  • Relevant coursework in operations, business, computers and/or accounting 3 to 5 years of related work experience

  • Strong communication skills

  • Proficient analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to use MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel and automated information technology systems

  • Ability to work in a highly sensitive and rigorously controlled environment.

  • Ability to assist with physical movement of containers.
