ABOUT THE ROLE

The Director of Ready Mixed Concrete Performance plays a crucial role in spearheading operational innovation, sustainability, and excellence within Holcim’s US Ready Mix Concrete business. This leadership position is integral to driving the organization towards its strategic objectives, including operational efficiency, financial success, environmental responsibility, and safety. Collaborating closely with regional US businesses the individual will implement continuous improvement processes, champion digital transformation, and embrace sustainable solutions. The role demands a strategic visionary capable of leveraging technical and commercial expertise to optimize product, plant, and fleet operations, along with capital planning and quality assurance/quality control measures. Through effective stakeholder management, analyisis, and team leadership, the Director will ensure Holcim's US Ready Mix Concrete business not only meets but exceeds its performance goals.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

As the Director of Ready Mixed Concrete Performance, your role will be multifaceted, focusing on strategic

leadership, operational excellence, and fostering a culture of innovation and safety. Your key activities will

include:

  • Health and Safety Leadership: Lead by example in prioritizing health and safety, establishing a culture that strives for zero incidents. You'll be instrumental in enhancing safety policies and practices across all work environments.

  • Strategic Planning and Execution: Take charge of concrete related strategic initiatives, including planning, performance reviews. Your expertise will be crucial in M&A due diligence, ensuring strategic alignment and operational synergy.

  • Operational Systems and Performance Improvement: Assess and support the implementation of manufacturing systems, processes, and tools for asset optimization and plant performance. Drive continuous improvement through effective management and leveraging of KPIs. Conduct on site performance review when needed. Manage Operational Improvement Monthly meetings with Concrete General Managers. Facilitate the sharing of best practices across all regions, creating a collaborative space for innovation and improvement.

  • Capital Expenditure and Business Case Development: Collaborate with regional teams to prepare and submit Capital Expenditure requests, building robust business cases to support strategic investment decisions.

  • Product Development and Technical Support: Lead in the development of innovative and sustainable Ready Mixed Concrete products. Provide essential technical support to customers, collaborating closely with Quality Control teams to ensure product excellence.

  • Quality Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor and identify areas for improvement in product quality, ensuring that Holcim's Ready Mixed Concrete meets and exceeds industry standards.

  • Fleet Management: Ensure the concrete truck fleet is efficiently managed and meets the evolvingneeds of the business, optimizing service delivery and operational efficiency.

  • Team Management and Development: Inspire and lead a team of professionals, focusing onachieving high performance and fostering an environment conducive to growth and excellence.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Education: Bachelor's degree

Additional Education Optional: Master's degree, P.E

Field of Study Preferred: Engineering, Chemistry or related technical discipline, Business Administration

Required Work Experience: A minimum of 10+ years to include experience in running and optimizing Ready Mix Concrete Operations. General Manager or Operational Manager experience ideal.

Required Computer and Software Skills: Microsoft Office, Google platform. Optional: Command, Quadrel

Travel Requirements: 20% of the time

Additional Requirements:

  • Industry Expertise: A thorough understanding of the concrete business, with a focus on product development, quality control, and operational efficiency. Asphalt, Cement or Aggregates experience would be a plus.

  • Business Acumen: Demonstrated success in delivering strong results through functional roles and direct business management. A keen sense for strategic and operational decision-making is essential.

  • Leadership Skills: Exceptional ability to lead and manage teams effectively, demonstrating strong supervisory skills and the capacity to inspire and motivate.

  • Communication Proficiency: Outstanding communication abilities, essential for articulating complex strategies and engaging effectively with teams and stakeholders across all levels.

  • Analytical Thinking: Robust problem-solving and analytical skills, critical for driving operationalimprovements and strategic initiatives.

  • Process Discipline: A disciplined and process-oriented approach, committed to achieving operational excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

  • Initiative: Self-motivated and assertive, with the drive to take ownership of projects and lead them to successful completion.

  • Influential Leadership: The skill to influence decision-making and strategic outcomes, effectively guiding the organization towards its objectives.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit these behaviors.

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Holcim approved Personal Protection Equipment (“PPE”), including but not limited to respirators. Employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator seal meets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
