We are seeking a ENG Structural Engineer 1 to join our Chicago, IL team! Come join us!

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Assists in the design and detailing of structural applications such as bridges, buildings, retaining walls, and other support-type structures. Works within a design group to develop design calculations and derive quantities for structural projects assigned to the team. Follows quality control and assurance protocols. Assists in field inspections and operations. Integrates knowledge of engineering principles and associated design codes and specifications to develop safe, economical, and sustainable designs.

  • Builds structural engineering designs by reviewing associated project documents, conducting site investigations, identifying and establishing performance standards, and applying the most appropriate structural engineering concepts, techniques, and criteria.

  • Assists in the verification of structural engineering designs by conducting independent analysis and following quality standards of practice.

  • Estimates simple timelines, cost estimates, and resource requirements for development of structural engineering projects.

  • Performs calculations and prepares drawings and visualizations that help identify and resolve integration issues relating to foundations and structures, loading, structural response, and connection designs.

  • Develops a proficiency in computer aided design and drafting. Understanding the art of detailing.

  • Verifies and supports construction operations by reviewing fabrication shop drawings, temporary works, associated construction-related calculations, and resolving potential conflicts.

  • Complies with industry standard codes and specifications including but not limited to AASHTO, ACI, AISC, IBC.

  • Helps to draft structural engineering reports by collecting, assessing, and summarizing data and trends.

  • Exemplifies the culture of intelligence, integrity, and initiative in day-to-day interactions.

  • Hybrid of indoor and outdoor working environments, depending on assignment.

  • Requires ability to perform repetitive motions, operate standard office equipment, potentially stand for long periods of time and engage in frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting items in excess of 20lbs.

Minimum requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering required, Masters degree preferred

  • 5 years minimum experience required

  • Basic awareness of problem solving and decision-making skills

  • Basic awareness of digital literacy skills

  • Communicates clearly and concisely in both written and verbal communication

Technical requirements:

  • PE required, SE preferred

  • Ability to communicate clearly with clients and coworkers, ability to write reports for client's deliverables.
