The Graham School provides continuing education programming for adult
learners.
Job Summary
The University of Chicago Graham School connects people around the world
to the University\'s distinctive ideas and intellectual community
through events, courses, and degree programs. The Events Manager will
play a critical role in ensuring our role as the \'front door\' of the
University remains vibrant.
Each year, the Graham School hosts more than 50 online and in-person
events that bring together more than 20,000 registrants. Reporting to
the Chief of Staff, the Events Manager will oversee the execution of
these gatherings.
Responsibilities
- In partnership with the Dean, Advancement Team, Marketing Team, and
program leadership, plans, coordinates, and executes in-person and
virtual events includinglectures, seminars, symposia, and other
community engagement events.
- Executes event logistics and other moderately complex assignments
with some guidance from others.
- Manages venue selection and contract negotiation.
- Monitors event expenses, including preparation of reports on costs.
- Reviews and finalizes guest lists and sends confirmation and
follow-up emails to guests.
- Communications with event registrants, which includes sending event
recordings.
- Works to implement ideas for improvement as identified in post-event
feedback.
- Drafts and creates event registration landing pages on the Graham
School\'s WordPress websites.
- Partners with marketing team in extending event invitations.
- In coordination with marketing and content manager, manages Graham
School event calendar. Coordinates or adds events to University
central calendar (LiveWell) to broaden audience reach.
- Coordinates with marketing and content manager on the development
and implementation of recommended best practices for Graham School
events.
- Coordinates with the marketing team on promotion efforts,
includingsocial media, email campaigns, and other outreach
strategies to support registration efforts.
- Acts as an ambassador of the Graham School at public functions,
cultivating relationships between constituent groups and the Graham
School.
- Executes day-to-day event logistics, and other moderately complex
assignments with some guidance from others.
- Assists with research, including vendor selection and contract
negotiation. Keeps track of all expenses, prepares reports on costs,
using existing procedures to solve moderately complex problems as
they arise.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related
field.
