Biological Sciences Division is searching for tenured or tenure-track
faculty members at Assistant, Associate or Full Professor rank. We seek
applicants pursuing research in any area of microbiology and related
areas and are particularly interested in scientists whose research
programs focus on host-pathogen interactions, microbial pathogenesis,
novel tools including systems and molecular approaches to studying the
microbiome and infectious diseases, antimicrobial resistance, and
emerging infectious diseases.
At The University of Chicago, we are committed to academic excellence
within the faculty, staff, and student body. The University is a vibrant
center of scientific discovery and innovation, and opportunities for
multidisciplinary collaboration are abundant, both within and outside

contained within one compact campus in Chicago\'s Hyde Park. Appointees
will have access to state- of-the-art core facilities and to outstanding
colleagues and graduate students affiliated with numerous
degree-granting programs within and outside the biological sciences.
Competitive research space and start-up funding will be available, as
will the potential for interactions with our affiliates, Argonne
National Laboratory and the Marine Biological Laboratory.
Appointees will have opportunities to interface with the Microbiome
Center, comprising faculty from 30 different departments at The
University of Chicago, as well as the Physical Sciences Division and the
Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering. The Department offers access
to gnotobiotic animal research, flow cytometry, high-throughput genomics
and biocontainment facilities. In collaboration with the Duchossois
Family Institute (https://tinyurl.com/y7392n78), investigators will have
access to biorepositories of commensal bacterial strains, the
metagenomic and metabolomic core facilities and bioinformatic resources
for large-scale data integration and analytics. The Biological Sciences
Division also provides access to a state-of-the-art single-cell genomics
facility with computational support. The appointee will be recommended
as a member of the Committee on Microbiology, and, if appropriate, of
other PhD-granting Committees in the Biological Sciences Division
(https://tinyurl.com/ybfczsbs). The position provides the opportunity to
teach outstanding graduate and medical students with strong interests in
microbiology and medical sciences as well as exceptional undergraduate
students in The College.
Applicants must have a doctoral degree or equivalent by the start of the
appointment.
To be considered, those interested must apply online at the University
of Chicago Academic Recruitment job board, which uses Interfolio to
accept applications: http://apply.interfolio.com/115174. Applicants must
