Whole Foods Market HR Generalist (Non-Retail Facilities) in Chicago, Illinois

Job Description

We are looking for an HR Generalist to join our team in the Midwest. You are responsible for consulting with and advising organizational leaders and Team Members as a Team Member Services (TMS) Subject Matter Liaison . You'll provide analysis on related issues within an assigned Distribution Center Facility and client groups(s). You'll execute HR strategy under the guidance of Team Member Services Leadership. Within this specific DC, you will assess and anticipate Team Member, Leadership, and related organizational needs and work across various TMS functions to develop and deliver integrated solutions. You'll work with leadership to adapt and apply Whole Foods Market initiatives and programs in a manner that supports business needs. Lastly, you will ensure compliance with corporate policies, government regulations, and statutory requirements.

This position is based onsite at our Chicago Distribution Center . This DC is located in the Pullman area of South Chicago.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports assigned facilities and Leadership through provision of and/or advice relating to various TMS functions and processes including: Performance Management, Talent Assessment, and Team Member Development; Team Member Relations; Compliance with applicable company policies, HR practices and procedures; Turnover, Retention Analysis and Succession Planning; Engagement, Total Rewards and Culture-Related Programs; Recruitment Support

  • Responsible for Team Member communication, education, and advice on all TMS programs and systems

  • Coordinates and facilitates Team Member training on various TMS topics

  • Recommends system and process improvements for related TMS functions

  • Builds consensus and resolves internal disputes on TMS policy and practice decisions

  • Provides escalated point of contact for Leadership and/or Team Member questions and mediates difficult interactions; escalates problems as appropriate

  • Partners with TMS COEs on special projects and assignments

  • Provides support for company-wide programs and local initiatives

  • Applies TMS business metrics to inform business decisions

  • Ensures compliance and proper application of all federal, state, and local laws, including FMLA, I-9, SOX, and FLSA

  • Ensures all legal employment postings are visible and current

  • Provides excellent customer service to all Team Members

  • Strong understanding of Human Resources concepts, practices, programs, and methodologies

  • Ability to learn and apply company policy

  • Communicates and demonstrates support for TMS decisions, even if inconsistent from own point of view

Business Perspective:

  • Possesses general business acumen with multi-unit retail experience a plus

  • Understands how effective people and organizational management systems can differentiate WFM from competition

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2-4+ years of relevant HR experience OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience

  • Multi-unit facility/distribution experience a plus

  • Bilingual a plus
