Job Description Summary
The Maintenance Technician will perform a variety of maintenance and
utility duties for the hospital\'s Engineering Department. The
Maintenance Technician is guided by a general knowledge of building
maintenance, and the use of tools and basic maintenance supplies.
The Maintenance Technician will consistently demonstrate support of the

Job Description
The Maintenance Technician will:
- Performs a variety of duties in maintaining, repairing, operating
and cleaning of the hospital, exterior grounds, and campus
facilities.
- Assists in making decisions on all normal and minor repairs and
reports major problems to the Facilities Manager.
- Cleans grounds, sidewalks and parking areas, picking up litter and
debris, branches using necessary electrical equipment.
- Maintains and performs minor repairs to equipment needed to complete
assigned building tasks, using power and hand tools and other
necessary equipment.
- Performs a variety of other unskilled or semi-skilled tasks such as
minor carpentry, plumbing, welding, painting, minor electrical work,
sheet metal work, masonry, and drywall maintenance.
- Performs a variety of building services\' duties including furniture
moves and equipment assembly.
- Responds to emergency problems in the facility and emergency repairs
as needed.
- Maintains logs, performs rounds, completes maintenance work orders,
tests, and inspections.
- Serves as member of facility\'s fire and emergency response teams.
- Perform all other duties that may be assigned in the best interest
of the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab.
Reporting Relationships
- Reports directly to the Facilities Manager
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Work requires ability to learn how to read mechanical and
architectural drawings.
- Work requires an interest in learning basic mechanical repairs,
carpentry, plumbing, and equipment repairs
- Requires interpersonal skills sufficient to maintain effective
communication with Institute employees.
- Ability to move heavy equipment weighing up to sixty pounds.
- Ability to use tools required by duties.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Healthcare experience highly desired.
Working Conditions
- Work environment requires exposure to dust, noise or extreme
temperatures.
- Requires long periods of standing, roof access and must be able to
dead lift up to 60 lbs.
