Summary:
This is a full-time position, which is contingent upon grant funding.
The WIOA Title II program is performance based and it must comply with
state and federal mandates; the instructor must follow state standards
and approved curriculum for the program, as well as meet the criteria as
a proficient instructor. The purpose of this position is to teach
general education courses and life skills (which includes digital
literacy and financial literacy lessons) to adults and young adults that
will assist them with their personal growth and achievement. The
instructor will perform duties that areinstructional and clerical in
nature while delivering direct services to youth and adults. The
employee will serve in the position for which a teacher or other
professional has responsibility in designing and implementing
educational-- lessons, evaluations, remediation plans, activities and
services for participants.
Responsibilities:

- Develop, modify, and evaluate curriculum to ensure that it meet the
needs of the students, aligns with WIOA, the Illinois ABE/ASE
Content Standards and College and Career Readiness Standards
- Write math and science-focused lesson plans that are based on the
Illinois ABE/ASE Content Standards as well as the College and Career
Readiness Standards
- Teach multi-level andBridge/IntegratedEducation & training(IET)
classes in mathand science using evidence-basedpractices or
strategies
- Contextualized instructionfortheBridge/IETcourses
- Refer students directly to post-secondary, vocational, and career
opportunities as well as supportive services
- Providesomeclassroom instructioninLifeSkillsandWorkReadinesscontent
- Providealevelofeducationalandcareer counselingservices
- Differentiatecurriculum,assessments,and/orinstructiontomeettheneedof
thestudent
- Evaluatestudents\'progressregularlyusingstandardizedassessmenttools

The following duties represent 35% of the work performed in training,
coordinating, implementing student support services, and collaborating
with team members, internal departments and external agencies
- CompletetheICCB\'sCollegeandCareerReadinessStandardsProficientTrainingforAdult
Educators and earn certificate within 6-months of hire date
- Attendscheduledprogrammeetingsandtrainingworkshops
- Each fiscal year, earn at least 12 hours of Professional Development
units approved by the Illinois Community College Board (ICCB}
- Demonstrate working knowledge of the world of work, the career
pathway framework, to connect these systems to one of the main
purposes for adult basic and adult secondary education
- Collaboratewith internal and external career navigators, workforce
partners as well as with occupational skill trainers (e.g., Welding
or Culinary Instructors}
- Assess, counsel and in collaboration with ASH\'s Career Navigator
refer students directly to post secondary, vocational, and/or career
opportunities as well as supportive services as needed
- Workwithteammemberstointegratebasicandemployability
skills,careerexploration, and/ortechnical skills in ABE/ASE
instruction usinginnovative or evidence-basedapproaches
- In collaboration withthe Director of Education, Manager, and Career
Navigator, provide educational counseling tostudents which
mayinclude settinggoals, resolving conflicts, and overcoming
barriers and crises tohelp retain students
- With the support from the Director of Education or Manager, advise
students on their progress a d recommend steps to solve any issues
that may impede them from completing their program or refer them to
the appropriate staff member or external agency
- Conduct/participatein weeklystudent intakes,interviews,orientations
andenrollment tasksas needed
- Maintain ongoing communication with program instructors, program
director, supervisorand case manager tohelp ensure student
achievement
