Actalent Mechanical Engineer in Chicago, Illinois

Job Description: Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to design and edit drawings for electro-mechanical equipment components. You will create or rebuild CAD models for custom machine orders, develop BOMs and sub-assemblies, and work cross-functionally with various teams including Electrical/Controls Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production. You will ensure that all designs meet client requirements and are manufacturable.

Responsibilities

  • Design and edit drawings for electro-mechanical equipment components.

  • Create or rebuild CAD models for custom machine orders.

  • Develop BOMs and sub-assemblies.

  • Collaborate with Electrical/Controls Engineering, Manufacturing, and Production teams throughout the design process.

  • Work with manufacturing on process development to ensure designs can be produced according to client requirements.

  • Utilize Unigraphics to build mechanical assemblies for orders, spending 90% of the day on this task.

  • Engage in minimal new design work initially, with some involvement in new product development within Unigraphics.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 2-5 years of experience in mechanical engineering and design.

  • Proficient in Unigraphics

  • Experience with sheet metal and large assemblies.

  • Ability to run a CAD station.

  • Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with machine design and assembly design.

  • Proficiency in using CAD software such as Unigraphics NX

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $85000.00/yr.
