The University of Chicago\'s Department of Neurobiology in the
Biological Sciences Division is searching for a Research Assistant
Professor whose primary activity will be academic research in
association with a faculty member or team. The RAP will be responsible
for preparing samples for X-ray and electron microscopy (EM) imaging
(e.g., animal perfusions, tissue fixation and staining, ultra-thin
sectioning, and operating microscopes to collect image series),
analyzing the resulting datasets, writing manuscripts, and applying for
grants both as a member of the larger team and for independent funding.
Thus, we welcome applicants with experience in large volume serial
electron microscopy (connectomics), synchrotron source X-ray imaging of
brains in health and disease, and experience in the algorithms used to
analyze these datasets. The appointee will ultimately create an
independent research effort with dedicated extramural funding that
complements existing strengths within our academic community.
Publication record and ability to obtain extramural grants will be
considered.

Biomedical Sciences or related disciplines, and 2) have completed
postdoctoral training prior to the start of employment.
