The University of Chicago\'s Department of Surgery, Section of Cardiac
Surgery, seeks full-time faculty members at any rank to support its
growing Robotic & Minimally Invasive Heart Surgery program. Clinical
responsibilities include a focus on minimally invasive and cardiac
robotic surgery as well as help support all Cardiac Surgery programs at
our Hyde Park location and affiliated offsite community practices and
partner locations. Appointees are expected to take call independently
and help with ECMO and procurement. Other duties include teaching and
supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic
rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits)
are dependent upon qualifications.
Appointees will contribute to patient care and join a vibrant and
distinguished community of faculty colleagues and learners at UChicago
Medicine, the Biological Sciences Division, the Pritzker School of
Medicine, and the University of Chicago and its affiliates. The
University of Chicago Medicine has been at the forefront of medical care
since 1927. Located in historic Hyde Park, the primary medical campus
includes the Center for Care and Discovery, Comer Children\'s Hospital,
Bernard A. Mitchell Hospital for adult inpatient care, and the
Duchossois Center for Advanced Medicine (DCAM) totaling more than 550
beds in service and net patient care revenues over \$1.4 billion.
The University of Chicago Heart & Vascular Center has nationally
recognized research and education programs that build on collaborations
throughout the University and is active in clinical operations and
quality improvement in the Medical Center.
Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a
medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical
licensure in the State of Illinois and the State of Indiana, 3) be BC/BE
by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or equivalent, and 4) have
completed an ACGME accredited fellowship and/or equivalent training in
cardiovascular/ thoracic (CVT) surgery.
We especially welcome applicants with cardiothoracic minimally invasive
or robotic experience and those interested in robust program building.
