Key Responsibilities:

  • We're seeking a dynamic Senior Technical Lead for UI Development, ready to pioneer and shape our new focus on user interfaces. This role is the linchpin in designing and building interfaces that will allow our Ancillary Team to seamlessly interact with our backend systems. Working closely with user groups in Chicago and participating in UX activities, you will spearhead a technical team to turn our vision into reality. Your task will involve deciphering the existing assortment of UIs, collaborating with UX professionals to modernize, consolidate, and enhance them for our users. You'll also discern the optimal tech stack for these web apps, considering UX visions, user needs, and company constraints. As a cornerstone team member, your hands-on building skills will be as crucial as your ability to identify, hire, and mentor new talent, ensuring consistent, high-quality work across the team.

  • Ownership of Future State: Quickly assume ownership of the future state, assessing the viability of existing UIs and determining if replacement is necessary. This involves understanding the current state, technical implementations, and learning from the existing team.

  • User Relationship and Tool Support: Forge a trusting working relationship with the Ancillary Pricing team members who will be using this tool regularly. This relationship will evolve from initially building the tool to ongoing support, addressing updates, resolving issues, and becoming the team's go-to person for ideas or assistance.

  • Team Collaboration and Knowledge Transfer: Work closely with the existing team to gain insights into technical nuances and past experiences that can be applied to the new solution. Cultivate a positive environment for learning and collaboration.

  • Infrastructure Deployment and Collaboration with Platform Ops to understand how to deploy their own infrastructure using AWS CDK. Identify new patterns needed for the primarily backend API technology, working closely with Platform Ops to create these patterns.

  • Assessment and Modernization of UIs: Collaborate with UX professionals to evaluate, modernize, consolidate, and improve existing UIs, ensuring they meet user needs and company expectations.

  • People Leadership and Team Building: Carry out people leadership responsibilities, including interviewing and selecting team members, cultivating a positive culture, maintaining high quality standards, and fostering a reputation for a strong say/do ratio.

United values diverse experiences, perspectives, and we encourage everyone who meets the minimum qualifications to apply. While having the “desired” qualifications make for a stronger candidate, we encourage applicants who may not feel they check ALL of those boxes! We are always looking for individuals who will bring something new to the table!
