Refrigeration Technician I Chicopee, MA Purpose: Responsible for
performing skilled maintenance, installation, repair and inspection work
on complex refrigeration equipment. Essential Duties and
Responsibilities: - Provide maintenance, operation, troubleshooting and
repair support to ammonia and Freon based refrigeration systems in a
single plant - Repair or rebuild expansion valves, solenoid valves,
manual valves, and water pumps - Maintain FES compressors including
adding oil, changing oil filters, cleaning strainers, and replacing
separators - Complete daily inspections and checklists of all
components - Work safely by utilizing proper lockout tag out, hot work,
confined space, and standard operating procedure policies - Perform
emergency shut down and startup, restart failed equipment, and put
systems back online - Troubleshoot pump re-circulating systems, liquid
transfer systems, electrical and mechanical - Participates in meetings
for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to
perform functions - Responds to emergency situations during or after
hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns - Prepares
written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the
purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information -
Performs a variety of other tasks Education and/or Work Experience
Requirements: - High School diploma or GED is preferred - At least 3
years\' experience operating, servicing, and maintaining industrial
refrigeration systems - Universal EPA certification - Strong mechanical,
electrical and Computer efficient skills (MS Office - Word, Excel and
Outlook) - Willing to work OT and be on a rotating on call schedule
(weekends & holidays included) - Valid driver\'s license - Familiar with
performing the functions of the job including: standard methods,
materials and tools used in assigned skilled trade; and safety practices
and procedures Physical Requirements: - Frequently be able to push,
pull, carry, lift (up to 50lbs), sit, stand, walk or maneuver heavier
items (with additional manpower or appropriate devices); carry ladders;
work from heights, work in small crawl spaces - Ability to use hands to
finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms - Frequent
hand/eye coordination to operate tools - Vision for reading, recording
and interpreting information - Speech communication and hearing to
maintain communication with employees and customers
