The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services, Clarks Summit State Hospital is actively seeking a Utility Plant Operator 2 to join our facility services, boiler plant operations team. In this position, you will be responsible for operating our boiler plant, with over $4.2M in new renovations. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you are responsible for the starting up and shutting down of boilers and all related equipment; opening and closing valves; reading gauges, thermometers, and graphs; and recording operational information to provide safe and efficient heat and hot water for the facility.

You use electronic, hydraulic, and pneumatic controls, in conjunction with meters, gauges, and computer-generated data to determine adjustments or corrections necessary for proper boiler operations or changing load requirements. Also, you operate, adjust, repair, and maintain auxiliary and control equipment such as electrical pumps, forced and induced draft fans, air compressors, feed water heaters, fuel delivery equipment, demineralizing systems, condensate return system, surge tank equipment, and all equipment associated to operate the boiler plant.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 40-hour work week Hours of work: 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, Sunday - Saturday, with a rotating schedule, weekends, and holidays as assigned. Work hours during the training period are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Once you are proficient in operating independently, you will move to the 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM shift. Please check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (commonwealth title); or One year of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment. Special Requirement: You must possess an active Class C motor vehicle license that is not currently under suspension. Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.
