Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Do you like solving problems, no matter how large or how complex? Our Avionics and Systems Engineering group is offering challenging work to support our customers across multiple military aircraft. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in driving the adoption of Additive Manufacturing (AM) tools, materials, and technologies by the F-16 System Program Office (SPO). As a manufacturing engineering subject matter expert, you will collaborate with Air Force stakeholders and materials engineers to develop and implement a robust framework that enables the seamless incorporation and certification of AM technologies for aircraft components.

Role and Responsibilities: As part of a team, you will:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive framework for integrating additive manufacturing into existing processes

  • Collaborate with stakeholder, design, and manufacturing teams to understand project requirements and constraints

  • Work with stakeholders to establish processes for assessing the performance, reliability, and durability of AM components

  • Conduct thorough evaluations of AM feedstocks, components, and processes to ensure repeatability and compliance with airworthiness standards and specifications

  • Provide expertise in selecting, testing, and validating materials suitable for additive manufacturing applications

  • Stay informed of industry advancements in additive manufacturing to continuously advance KBR’s and customer knowledge

  • Lead training programs to educate Air Force stakeholders on the evaluation and integration of AM parts

    Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in an engineering discipline

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment

  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex concepts to diverse stakeholders

  • Ability to develop qualified processes using applicable systems including basic statistics, statistical process control methods, design of experiments (DOE), material, process, and equipment qualification, lot acceptance testing, fault tree analysis, and process failure mode and effects analysis

  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance. US Citizenship is required

    Desired Experience:

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance

  • Masters in an engineering discipline

  • Experience with additive manufacturing and/or manufacturing in a low-volume high-variety environment

  • Experience in developing and incorporating new technologies into the manufacturing process

  • Knowledge of quality management systems

  • Proven track record of successfully implementing manufacturing processes for aerospace components or similar industries

  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) software

  • Experience with evaluating parts for airworthiness and/or regulatory compliance

  • Familiarity with relevant DoD industry standards and regulations
