Honeywell Systems Engineer II in Clearwater, Florida

The Sensors, Guidance and Navigation (SGN) Center of Excellence (CoE), has an immediate and exciting opening for a Lead Systems Engineer to be part of a leading-edge technology development team for inertial navigation products.

This position entails system design and development of inertial sensors, Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) and Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), supporting both new product development and next generation upgrades of in-service products. Target product platforms will include missiles, munitions, aircraft, marine, and other commercial applications. The role will require interaction with external customers in order to facilitate the completion of products to customer specifications. Further, the candidate will help develop and define engineering processes in the CoE and act as a mentor to developing engineers.

The candidate must have a strong background in Navigation and Systems Engineering methodology. She/he must be able to demonstrate ability to manage project tasks, including budgets and schedules, and determine engineering risk and mitigation plans. The candidate must be able to collaborate with engineers locally and remotely, as well as possess strong written and verbal communication skills. In addition, this position requires strong leadership skills and project leadership experience. The primary location for this position is the Honeywell Aerospace facility in Clearwater, Florida

Key Responsibilities

· Support numeric evaluation of product design, integration, and qualification activities for new inertial navigation products for internal R&D and customer funded programs

· Develop and augment navigation equations - direction cosine and quaternion

· Calibrate inertial sensors and inertial systems

· Evaluate sensor & system performance – ex: reading and understanding Root Alan Variance (RAV)

· Support trade studies and issue resolution (e.g. FMEA, RCCA) activities

· Prepare, review, approve, and present technical documentation and deliverables to internal and external customers

· Function as a technical focal with internal customers supporting new product development and communicating technical status

· Execute in a cross-functional team setting (interfacing with mechanical, electrical, software, test, etc.)

· Manage internal stakeholders and their needs

· Support system design team meetings (SRR, PDR, TRR, CDR, FCA/PCA, TIMs) with internal and external customers

· Support customer flow-down requirement analysis, feasibility assessment, technical solution development

· Support system documents development, including but not limited to system-level requirements, Interface Control Document, Hardware Requirements Specification, Performance Verification Test Plan Procedure, Certification documents

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

YOU MUST HAVE

· Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar technical field

· Due to export controls and ITAR products, candidate must be a US citizen and have the ability to obtain a Secret clearance

· 10+ years’ experience in Navigation

WE VALUE

· Experience in systems guidance and navigation testing and analysis

· Understanding of INS/GPS systems with emphasis in simulation and analysis, Kalman Filtering design, inertial sensor analysis techniques, differential GPS, and classical controls

· Experience with Matlab/Simulink or other similar modeling tools

· Strong math and analytical skills

· Familiarity with Department of Defense programs and processes

· Advanced knowledge of the systems development lifecycle

· Individuals that quickly analyze, incorporate and apply new information and concepts

· Model based system engineering capability

· Ability to adapt dictated by project changes

· Multi-tasking and the ability to manage a variety of complicated tasks

· Excellent written and oral communication skills

· Working knowledge of software development as an engineering discipline, including some programming skills

· Individuals who are self-motivated and able to work with minimum supervision, who consistently take the initiative to get things done

· Six Sigma Green Belt certification
