Snowflake Inc. Principal Production Engineer in Clyde Hill, Washington

Build the future of data. Join the Snowflake team. Production engineering ensures that Snowflake's services are available and perform to our users' needs. As a Production Engineer, you will work to improve the reliability and performance of Snowflake's distributed systems. You will partner with our product engineering teams to design, build, operate, and automate distributed applications at the heart of Snowflake's service that are critical to the function of our customers. RESPONSIBILITIES: Engage in and improve the whole lifecycle of services-from inception and design, deployment, operation, and refinement. Scale systems sustainably by automation; Drive changes that improve reliability and velocity. Establish and practice low noise incident response rotations and blameless postmortems to prevent problem recurrence. Write and review code. Develop documentation and capacity plans, and debug the hardest problems on large distributed systems. Collaborate with software engineers to establish, maintain, and optimize functional and performance SLAs. Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation. MINIMAL QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field involving software engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Proficient in at least one modern programming language Systematic problem-solving methods, effective communication skills. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience capacity and load testing distributed applications Experience with containers and container orchestration systems such as Kubernetes Experience in deploying, managing, and operating scalable and fault tolerant Linux infrastructure. Hands-on operational experience performance measurement and benchmarking. Hands on experience with one of more public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP) Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently. The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role: The estimated base salary range for this role is $235,000 - $368,000. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Snowflake's bonus and equity plan. The successful candidate's starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location.
