This is a technical/supervisory position in the California District Mining Office. This position supervises the activities of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Unit to ensure efficient regulatory reviews of mining related NPDES permit applications and proper coordination of these reviews with the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the other permitting units in the office. Professional and technical expertise is needed to evaluate and solve advanced level problems in areas such as discharge impacts on receiving streams, hydrologic impacts of underground mining on both surface waters and aquafers, assessment and evaluation of underground mine pools, assessment of underground hydraulic mine barriers and design reviews of mine water treatment facilities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Coal Center. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree in the biological, physical, or environmental sciences, engineering, or in a field closely related to environmental protection or regulation; and five years of professional environmental protection experience; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Conditions of Employment: This position requires possession of a valid Class C driver's license. This position requires possession of a valid Professional Geologist license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
