What You'll Be Doing

Job Scope: Generally responsible for performing electrical and instrumentation technical services for less complex E&I assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical methods. Work will be performed under direct supervision. Design experience required.

Assist with redlining panels (lots of field time), making these changes in AutoCAD, and eventually I&E specialized type of services.

Primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Remove, install, clean, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot electrical, instrumentation and distributive control equipment throughout the facility safely and professionally. Equipment may include various transmitters, transducers, meters, relays, switches, instruments, systems and devices.

  • Operate other equipment including, but not limited to, industrial forklifts, man lifts, skid steer type loaders, and other mobile equipment.

  • Maintenance of pneumatic and motor operated valves and actuators.

  • Read and understand various single line, 3 line, electrical, pneumatic, piping and instrumentation diagrams and drawings.

Ideal Background

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Associates degree in Engineering Technology is preferred.

Experience: This position requires 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance and technical service or related coursework

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of plant equipment including transmitters and control valves.

  • Knowledge of motor controls and lighting circuits.

  • Working knowledge of voltages up to 600v.

  • Understand and maintain environmental regulations that relate to work site so that work can be performed in a safe and efficient manner without causing an environmental excursion (Example: Do not park a forklift with a hydraulic oil leak over a storm drain).

  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Working knowledge of electrical arc flash and shock hazards (NFPA 70E) with the ability to select the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the task.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time.

  • Ability to lift and carry in excess of 25 lbs.

  • Ability to use the entire body, more often hands and arms, in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials and equipment.

  • Ability to climb ladders or perform duties utilizing a safety harness while working at elevated heights.

  • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs while carrying equipment.

  • Ability to perform work outdoors or in process units in hot or cold climates.

  • Ability to perform duties within confined spaces for extended periods of time.

  • Ability to perform duties while wearing personal protective equipment such as a fire-retardant jumpsuit, safety glasses, ear plugs and hard hat.
