POSITION SUMMARY: Serves as a University fund raising executive, initiating, cultivating and actively managing a portfolio of prospective donor relationships. Works collaboratively to connect key stakeholders and donors to the University. Utilizes relationship management tools to collect, analyze and report information. Stays current on the University's programs, and maintains a keen understanding of higher education and trends for higher education philanthropy. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Develops relationships with and solicits gifts from alumni and friends of the University. 2. Actively manages a portfolio of approximately 150 prospective donors, facilitating all aspects of the gift cycle:   • Initiates and maintains routine contact with prospective donors.   • Develops appropriate cultivation strategies for each, including working through university colleagues, volunteers and mutual acquaintances.   • Encourages potential donors toward solicitation in an appropriate and timely fashion.   • Solicits gifts for university initiatives.   • Provides excellent stewardship for donors, adhering to the highest ethical standards, providing meaningful information and services, and facilitating meaningful gifting opportunities. 3. Works collaboratively with university faculty and staff, volunteers and administration to identify, connect with and share information about the University's key stakeholders and donors. Recommends and facilitates communication between the University and its constituents, and serves as a University representative for events, gatherings and activities as directed. 4. Adheres to fund-raising processes and utilizes relationship management tools as directed, including utilizing database systems for data collection, analysis and reporting. 5. Stays current on WWU's academic and student life opportunities, policies and requirements. Works to accurately convey those policies to donors and key constituents/partners. 6. Develops and maintains a keen understanding of all facets of secondary education systems, specifically Seventh-day Adventist education systems. Regularly reviews industry data to gain a broad acquaintance of trends and projections for higher education philanthropy. Educates WWU management, university relations and advancement staff, and other key audiences.  7. Assists with alumni and advancement activities as requested. 9. Serves as a member of WWU's governance system as directed by the vice president for university relations and advancement. 10. Serves as a WWU representative in industry organizations, trade groups and service agencies according to WWU's standards and code of conduct. 11. Adheres to WWU's policies for conduct, daily processes and risk management.   • Uphold WWU's code of conduct and standards.   • Uses WWU's timekeeping, data collection and reporting systems.   • Abides by WWU's risk management and safety policies. 12. Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of WWU senior management, formally or informally, orally or in writing. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: "Non-essential" If a duty takes up less than 5% of the employees' time and is not viewed as a critical function it is likely considered "non-essential" within the context of the ADA.
