What You Need to Know
Salary Range: $45,000.00 - $52,312.00 (Based on selected hire’s qualifications)
Cover Letter & Resume: A cover letter and resume are strongly recommended
Travel: Requires occasional availability to work outside of normal hours and on weekends - some travel required
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years in financial aid, scholarships, student employment, student veterans’ services or related experience
Required Licenses and Certifications:
- Must have a Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Financial Aid or Student Information Systems
Bilingual in Spanish
Knowledge of financial aid counseling, verification, rules, and regulations
Ability to develop and make presentations
Knowledge and experience in an enrollment management area focusing on outreach and/or retention
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
ISIR/Imaging Processing:
Lead and coach the ISIR and imaging team for efficient compliance processing
Approve timesheets, leave requests, and oversee mailroom and scholarship check processing
Assist with testing processes, identifying issues, and coordinating training for direct reports
Handle reports related to cflags, student eligibility, and oversee the offer letter process
Provide support to other teams, resolve escalated issues, and collaborate on special projects
Serve as backup for loan processing and assist with resource tables and presentation requests
State and Federal Application Processing:
Stay updated on federal, state, and institutional policies, procedures, and regulations related to financial aid, student employment, and scholarships
Analyze complex rules and policies, recommend revisions, and assist in training staff on updated procedures
Work with state, regional, or national committees on regulatory changes and their impact on financial aid offices and students
Assist the compliance officer in reviewing upcoming policy changes and ensure the Policy and Procedure Manual (PPM) is updated
Inform and train staff on new or revised policies and procedures
Advising:
Serve as regularly scheduled Quick Queue agent and assist with coverage of front counter in the main reception area of the department, greeting visitors, answering inquiries regarding federal financial aid forms, records, procedures, and policies
Serve as a back-up counselor, as well as a walk-in counselor on a weekly basis, and coordinate team coverage as needed
Conduct on and off-campus presentations, seminars, and workshops for students, including high schools, and possibly for professional development training
Work at resource tables for TAMU, prospective student groups, and other requests
Coordinate and serve as a resource for specialized financial aid programs, advising and assisting students, parents, and university personnel
General:
Coordinate the planning and execution of events for specific audiences in support of departmental initiatives
Respond to questions and counseling needs in-person, by phone, email, and written communication from currently enrolled students, prospective students, and parents
Provide loan and indebtedness counseling to students individually and in groups, and assist students with specialized needs such as Study Abroad, Vocational Rehabilitation, Graduate, and International Students
Serve as a mentor for team members, review student files, collect supporting documentation, adjust financial aid data and packaging as needed, and travel to off-site locations as required

The mission of Scholarships & Financial Aid is to provide students and their families with information and financial resources to attend Texas A&M University, along with support programs that promote higher education and developmental opportunities. We administer scholarships and financial aid, which include the following programs: grants, student loans, student employment, veteran educational benefits, athletic aid coordination, short-term loans, and emergency tuition and fee loans. In addition our office provides advising on the programs listed above. Our office also assist students in gaining financial literacy knowledge through our Money Education Center. Our office is responsible for processing student aid and veteran educational benefits for College Station, Galveston, all Health Science Center sites and Qatar which totaled approximately $836 million in financial aid assistance for the prior academic year.
