Summary Description:
The Acquisitions Supervisor is a full-time position that assists with
providing financial, budgeting and acquisitions support for Tutt Library.
Reporting to the Collections Librarian and supervising the Accounts and
Acquisitions Coordinator, this position helps build the library's physical
and electronic collections by ordering a wide range of new materials, using
available funds effectively, and selecting materials for the library's
Leisure Collection. Ideal candidates should have experience working in
libraries or the book trade and should have an interest in supporting the
Library's mission to foster intellectual exploration and discovery.

Anticipated Salary Range: $19.25 to $23.88 per hour
Responsibilities:
Supervise Acquisitions Department operations staff; maintain
documentation of information and procedures for the Acquisitions module in the
ILS; research, prioritize and manage orders, claims and cancellations;
import bibliographic records; provide data and reports to College Librarian
and librarians; advise other library staff on the use of the Acquisitions
modul
Manage endowed funds in accordance with exacting donor restrictions;
serve as the library's liaison to the Finance Office for communications
related to endowed funds.
Manage materials budget and assist in the development and preparation of
the library's annual books and materials budget and supporting
documentation; manage Purchasing Card account.
Source and purchase of scholarly and research materials, provide timely
support for faculty, and serve as primary selector of titles for the Leisure
Reading collection.
Communicate with vendors and unconventional sources and work with faculty
and librarians to obtain out-of-print, hard-to-find, foreign language or
expensive materials.
Serve as a member of the Technical Services Team, participating in
strategic planning related to technical services operations and project
planning, focusing on acquisitions processes and management of endowed
funds; participate in continuing education by attending acquisitions and
related workshops.
Contribute to shared responsibilities for shaping library services through
team and work group assignments; participate in the life of the college
through relevant committee and volunteer activities.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience (5+ years working in academic
libraries) plus a minimum of two years related experience in the book trade
or in a library; ability to interpret and verify bibliographic records;
independent critical thinking, decision making and problem solving
abilities; excellent oral and written communication skills; attention to
de ail and ability to perform detailed work for extended periods; proficient
with computer software programs including Microsoft Word, Excel and
Outlook; experience working in a networked computer environment and
knowledge of file management; excellent customer service and organizational
ski
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with specialized library management systems; academic library
experience; experience working with endowed funds and annual budgeting of
purchases; knowledge of the publishing industry; interest in, and
knowledge of, current fiction, literature and book review resources.
