OBJECTIVE:
To increase the quality of life through promotion of independence within the
home by assisting with personal care, health maintenance activities and
homemaker services. Perform direct care services to client as directed by
client and IHSS Nurse.
Pay: $17 per hour
This Part Time job is eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision,
Retirement, Long Term Disability, Short Term Disability, Life and
Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Flexible Spending Accounts, and
several voluntary supplemental benefit offerings. In addition, these
positions are eligible for paid time off in the form of vacation, sick,
holiday, floating holiday, jury duty and bereavement leave.
QUALIFICATIONS
A High School Diploma or GED. A valid Colorado driver's license or ID,
without a history of violations with current automobile insurances on the
vehicle if ever transporting client is also required. If you have an out of
state driver's license you must obtain a valid Colorado driver's license
within 30 days of employment. It is required to have a Smart Phone to utilize
YLYW's telephony system to clock in and out when providing services.
As a caregiver that also handles very confidential information the candidate
may be disqualified if they have a criminal record for illegal drug use or
sale, financial fraud, identity theft, physical abuse, crimes
involving violence and/or theft. The specifics of the offense will be
considered, including how long ago the offense took place (see specifics
below*
OTHER REQUIREMENTS/PREFERENCES
Geriatric, medical and/or home care experience is a plus. It is preferred
that the incumbent can interact and work cooperatively and effectively with
consumers, coworkers, supervisors, family members, and community
referral sources. The incumbent must be able to perform general homemaking
skills, demonstrate customer service skills, make common sense decisions
and perform duties as required. The incumbent must also communicate
effectively, conduct self in a professional manner and maintain a
professional appearance that enhances the firm's reputation. The incumbent
must respect confidentiality of the client.
KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS
Client Care
The IHSS Attendant will plan with the client on how best to carry out the
required tasks and functions, organize the tasks within the care plan and
perform the care plan tasks; {i.e. personal care, health maintenance
activities and homemaker tasks}. and keep appropriate records, assist with
activities, meals and snacks and communicate with medical and other
professionals and caregivers to implement necessary changes, confirm
treatment or handle emergencies. The incumbent will recognize the importance
of a clean, healthy environment in performing household task; take
measures to keep the home in a safe condition and respect the confidentiality

Client/Program Tracking and Reporting
The IHSS Attendant will complete telephony time keeping accurately and
punctually, complete incident reports as deemed necessary, submit progress
notes, changes in condition and report important changes observed in the
client's home.
Relationship Management
The IHSS Attendant will involve the client in all activities, encourage
individual independence in the performance of all tasks, communicate in a
timely manner and keep the IHSS RN informed of progress, considerations and
any pertinent information regarding the client's care. The incumbent will
deal effectively and calmly with non-routine situations following accepted
guidelines and perform other duties as required by the IHSS RN,
participating in staff meetings and trainings as required. The incumbent will
also maintain good working knowledge of Discover Goodwill's policies and
procedures, performing additional related duties as requested by the IHSS RN.
Research and Industry Involvement
The IHSS Attendant will participate in training classes and rece ve additional
training as needed (12 hours annually); use conferences and meetings to
expand knowledge and skill and ensure updated knowledge of policies.
Background Check Requirements
**Per the State regulation (6 CCR 1011-1 Chap 26) 6.3 Criminal history
record checks:
(A) Effective June 1, 2015, the HCA shall require any individual
seeking employment with the agency to submit to a criminal history record
check to ascertain whether the individual seeking employment has been
convicted of a felony or misdemeanor, which felony or misdemeanor involves
conduct that the agency determines could pose a risk to the health, safety
or welfare of home care consumers. CODE OF COLORADO REGULATIONS 6 CCR 1011-1

(B) The criminal history record check shall, at a minimum, include a
search of criminal history in the State of Colorado and be conducted not more
than 90 days prior to employment of the individual.
(C) The cost of such inquiry shall be paid by either the home care agency
or the individual seeking employment.
(D) In assessing whether to employ an applicant with a felony or
misdemeanor conviction, the HCA shall consider the following factors:
(1) The history of convictions, pleas of guilty or no contest,
(2) The nature and seriousness of the crimes;
(3) The time that has elapsed since the conviction(s);
(4) Whether there are any mitigating circumstances; and
(5) The nature of the position for which the applicant would be employed.
(E) The HCA shall develop and implement policies and procedures regarding
the employment of any individual who is convicted of a felony or misdemeanor
to ensure that the individual does not pose a risk to the health, safety and
welfare of the consumer.
